Best Safari for Kenya & Tanzania

Thank you to Colours of Africa for a great time Safari experience in Kenya and Tanzania. I got the full experience of the BIG 5 in BOTH COUNTRIES which can be an unpredictable thing. I experienced the best of both worlds because both countries have different things to offer 😊. In Kenya our tour guide was Edward and he was very knowledgeable about the area due to living in the Masai Village. He was eager and excited to show us what we wanted to see and he made our safari dreams come true! In Tanzania our guide was GOODLUCK and that’s literally what he brought onto our safari trip GOODLUCK! We had such a different experience than what we seen in Kenya and we really appreciated the new things he got to show us while still checking off things our bucket list! He has en eagle eye that comes with decades of experience. Definitely recommend both guides for your Safari experience and make sure to come during the peak season of the great migration for the BEST experience.

An unforgettable safari with an exceptional team

From the very first message to the moment we said goodbye, this safari felt genuinely personal and thoughtfully organized. The communication was always fast, friendly, and reassuring, and every question we had was answered with care. Mustapha, our driver, was outstanding. His deep knowledge of the parks was clear from the way he understood animal behavior, chose the right spots, and helped us get some incredible views of the wildlife. His experience truly made a difference, and I honestly can’t imagine having a better driver. Patrick, our guide, was equally exceptional. He was kind, patient, knowledgeable, and spoke excellent Spanish. His passion for the parks and wildlife made every day more interesting, and we came away having learned so much. He was absolutely the perfect guide for our trip. Everything was exactly as promised, the organization was excellent, and the value for money was fantastic. We always felt well looked after and could rely on the team throughout the entire journey. We’re extremely happy with the agency and would gladly recommend them to anyone planning a safari. It was a wonderful experience and one we’ll remember for many years to come.

An Unforgettable Safari Made Special by Mustapha and Patrick

From the moment we first got in touch until the end of our trip, we always felt we were dealing with people who genuinely cared about giving us an unforgettable experience rather than simply selling a safari. Every question we had was answered quickly, clearly, and with kindness. Our driver, Mustapha, was outstanding. His knowledge of the parks and wildlife was remarkable, and his ability to predict animal movements meant we enjoyed incredible sightings throughout the safari. He always positioned the vehicle perfectly, giving us the best possible views. We honestly can’t imagine having a better driver. Patrick, our guide, was equally exceptional. He was friendly, patient, spoke excellent Spanish, and shared his passion and knowledge of the parks with us every day. Thanks to him, we learned so much about the wildlife and the environment. He truly made the experience even more special. The safari was excellent value for money, everything was exactly as described, and the organization was flawless from beginning to end. We couldn’t be happier with the agency and the team they put together. And, most importantly, a very special thank you to Mustapha and Patrick for the way you looked after our family throughout the whole trip. You were always attentive to us, making sure everyone was comfortable, happy, and enjoying every moment. You took care of us as if we were friends rather than just guests, and you made the safari not only unforgettable, but incredibly fun. We will always remember the laughs, the adventures, and the wonderful moments we shared with you both. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Great customer service and reasonably priced safari!

I booked a 13-day safari with Colours of Africa very last minute (a mere 7 days ahead) and was very pleasantly surprised by how easy it was. Grace was our point of contact and after providing the initial quote, worked with me to customize the itinerary to add two other parks I wanted to see. I requested the quote 9 days ahead of when I wanted to start and had my custom itinerary booked within 36 hours of my initial quote request. I requested quotes from companies that had good reviews on safaribookings.com and went with Colours of Africa because they were the first company to get back to me and I was in a rush. Fortunately for me, they were also reasonably priced. I gave them my ideal budget per day and they customized my itinerary accordingly. Grace was super responsive before, during, and after our trip, and was especially helpful when filling out our Kenyan e-visa application. I was a bit panicked it wouldn’t be approved in time because I booked a flight from the US to Nairobi only a week ahead of our safari but she assured me I’d be able to get my visa in time (it was approved less than 24 hours after I submitted the application). Most of our accommodations were nicer than I was expecting given the budget we had and how last minute we booked the trip. I was also very impressed by the quality of the food at our accommodations – normally the mass-produced food at buffets in tourist lodging isn’t very good, but the Indian and local curries and other dishes were delicious. In Kenya, we went to Samburu, Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha, Hell’s Gate, and Amboseli. In Tanzania, we went to Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti. They were all beautiful and worth going to, but my favorites were Samburu, Naivasha (this was quite different from the other parks and was nice to have a change), Amboseli (also quite different with the wetlands), and Ngorongoro. Seeing the Ngorongoro crater was amazinggggg. And Masai Mara and/or Serengeti have the stereotypical savannah views you imagine you’ll see when you’re on a safari. I’d say it’s not necessary to do both Serengeti and Masai Mara because it’s the same geographical area, just with two different names b/c they’re in different countries. Doing both felt a little repetitive (my fault, I was the one who requested to add Masai Mara to our itinerary). I think a 13-day safari was a little too long and would have been happy with 10 days – you get tired of sitting in the car all day. But even just a 2-day safari is worth it if that’s all you have time for! I maybe would have swapped Serengeti for somewhere were you’re more likely to see rhinos – We saw one from very far away in Ngorongoro but that’s it. Otherwise, we saw plenty of everything else! We had great guides and especially loved Jonson in Kenya and Juma in Tanzania, they were excellent at spotting animals and getting us close and giving us the time we wanted to take photos and observe the animals. If I went back to Kenya and Tanzania I’d definitely reach out to Colours of Africa again to help me plan my trip!
