    Fabulous Hiking Experience

My husband and I are 55 and 54 years old and thoroughly enjoyed this hiking adventure. (Well, sleeping on the ground wasn't enjoyable, but we got over it.) We received great instruction, so we felt equipped to make the trip and our guides provided a great balance of encouragement and challenge. I felt cared for and pushed in all the right ways and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Response from the operator: Thank you for the very kind review and for sharing your experience on our 4-Day Glacier Point to Half Dome trip and how you felt, everything from being challenged, supported, and now accomplished! We hope to see you back soon! -Scott

Once in a lifetime hiking trip

Our experience with Lasting Adventures was amazing, Maggie and Ella were our guides. Yosemite is breathtaking, and we especially loved how easy the process was to be able to see back country and half dome. The guides handled all the cooking and had infinite knowledge of the park. They were super sweet and chill. Our 2 kids both enjoyed the experience very much, and we got to see so much of Yosemite.

Response from the operator: Thank you for this very kind review and for sharing your experience with Lasting Adventures. We're glad your family enjoyed your time in the Yosemite backcountry with Maggie and Ella. Hopefully, we will see you soon in a different park and/or on a new itinerary in Yosemite. -Scott

100% Recommend going with Lasting Adventures for Half Dome 4 Day trip

We did the 4 day half dome trip and it totally exceeded our expectations. We usually prefer to take a DYI approach to travel but decided to go with Lasting Adventures in order to simplify the logistics of the trip, especially permitting for both the climb and camping. Super glad we did - we got so much more out of the trip than if we'd done it ourselves. Our guides, Maggie and Haley, were exactly what you hope for in guides - capable, competent, enthusiastic and really good at creating a supportive team environment across a disparate group of people. The pacing of the trip and variety of exposure to the park was also excellent. Overall, It was a blast and we have already recommended this trip (and these guides) to our friends.

Response from the operator: Mike, thank you for sharing your experience with us and the kind words about Maggie and Haley. It's nice to know we exceeded your expectations. Hope to have you back on a different adventure in any of the parks where we operate. -Scott

    Half Dome Backpacking

My backpacking trip with Lasting Adventures was absolutely amazing! Absolutely perfect planning. Our guides Hailey and Maggie made sure to reach us the day before our trip to confirm everything was OK. Thay met us on day one and had even set our camp! Meals were delicious and nutritious, the gear provided was high quality and the hike routs were well planned. Our guides gave us guidance and support all the way through, made sure everyone felt comfortable. Unfortunately we had an emergency, but they handled it so professionally. We summited Half Dome successfully and even enjoyed dinner on top! Absolutely recommend this experience, couldn't express enough how much I enjoyed it!

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and leave this great review. -Scott

Know your abilities, don’t slow down a group

I swim 3 miles a day and hike 5miles a day 6x a week in Chicagoland, so I had no problem with a 30-40lb pack, 10 mile days, averaging over 2mph with 3000 ft elevation gain. Please be in shape for the rest of the group. Please realize this is not a stroll over nice paved or crushed limestone forest preserve trails. Creek crossing with water to your knees, and 5-15 miles a day over rugged terrain, plus vertical steepness of half dome. So our two guides split, one took 1/3rd of the group out for saftey/medical, the other guide took the rest of us to Half Dome….private sunset dinner at the top! I’m 48, 200lbs and was the 2nd youngest of us that finished the trip, so age is no limit if you are in shape. A little more isolation at camp would have been nice, as two nights were in official campgrounds and only one was in the back country. Food was amazing, tortellini with pesto sauce, olives, shredded parm, olives, and turkey sausage at sunset at the top of half dome! We did 26 miles in 3 days, 5-14-7….wouldn’t call it hard as the guide “forced” shade and water/snack breaks more often than I personally needed, but others in the group definitely needed them.

Response from the operator: Thanks for sharing your experience and leaving this very informative and kind review. -Scott

4-Day Half Dome Backpacking Adventure: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Yosemite National Park.

How much does 4-Day Half Dome Backpacking Adventure cost?

    +

Prices start at $2150 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Yosemite National Park usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 4-Day Half Dome Backpacking Adventure take?

    +

Plan for about 96 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Yosemite National Park is not rushed.

Is 4-Day Half Dome Backpacking Adventure worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 78 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 69 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Yosemite National Park, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 4-Day Half Dome Backpacking Adventure?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is 4-Day Half Dome Backpacking Adventure suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 96-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 4-Day Half Dome Backpacking Adventure?

    +

Around 24 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Yosemite National Park can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Yosemite National Park and add a light layer if any part of the 96-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 4-Day Half Dome Backpacking Adventure start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Yosemite National Park within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Yosemite National Park?

    +

Yosemite tours cover Valley loops to El Capitan and Half Dome viewpoints, Glacier Point sunsets, Mariposa Grove sequoias and waterfall hikes in spring melt. Day trips from San Francisco run long, so we weight transparency on drive time. On Outty we rank every Yosemite National Park experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Yosemite Highlights Small Group Tour, Yosemite Valley Private Hiking Tour, Yosemite Winter Highlights Small Group Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Yosemite National Park?

    +

May to June for waterfalls, September to October for quiet trails. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Yosemite National Park?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
