    All day fun adventure

Pick up and port transportation was perfect. The staff explained each piece of the trip and directions were very clear. Don’t pass on the snorkeling part, it was great and we saw a sting ray plus other beautiful fish. Both islands were completely different and interesting: crazy busy shopping on one and peaceful serenity on the other. On the boat the staff was fun and attentive to all needs… please tip them well for their excellent service!!

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're delighted to hear that your visit to these islands was enjoyable and that you were able to make the most of the tour, as well as appreciate the clarity of the tour's structure and the explanations provided by your guides. We hope to continue being a part of your future adventures.

    Fun day on the water

We’ve been to Mexico a few times and to Isla Mujeres twice, so we wanted to switch it up and find a less traveled island. We stumbled across Contoy. This island is nationally protected and only allows 200 people a day. It was a great experience and the beach felt empty. Isla Mujeres is nice, but if you just want to enjoy the beach without all the vendors and the crowds then Contoy is the place for you! The company we used was Contoy Adventures. They were wonderful. Provided a safe and fun atmosphere, food, and drinks. I’d highly recommend this trip!! Pro Tip: bring bug spray. They’ll allow you to put it on before you get to the island. It’s absolutely needed if you’re taking the small hike on the island. It’s not a hike per se but provides some nice views. We were destroyed by mosquitoes in a matter of minutes.

Response from the operator: We appreciate your opinion and we are pleased to know that you had a great day full of nature and adventure. In the same way that the staff team was part of the experience.

    HEAVEN

Contoy is a truly amazing virgin island, exceptional views from any point of the beach but also from the inside. You can feel it freedom all the time, animals are just acting like there is nobody else in there. Just be careful with the sun as sunblock is banned and the weather is great but can be too much The restaurant was pretty good and the museum is really interesting. In 1 word, HEAVEN I would be going every day if possible!

Response from the operator: Thank you for leaving us your comment, it is a pleasure for us to support you and to know that you have had a positive experience

    Contoy Island: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cancun.

How much does Contoy Island cost?

    +

Prices start at $160 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cancun usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Contoy Island take?

    +

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cancun is not rushed.

    Is Contoy Island worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 19 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cancun, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Contoy Island?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Contoy Island suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Contoy Island?

    +

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cancun can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cancun and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Contoy Island start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cancun within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cancun?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cancun experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Early Access to Chichen Itza All Inclusive with Valladolid and Cenote Swim, Whale Shark Tour from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Riviera Maya, Small-Group 3 Hidden Cenotes Adventure with Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cancun?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cancun?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
