Great trip! Great guide! Great Customer Service!

First the good then the bad. My wife and I opted for the private tour option. Can't say enough of our guide Jesus "Chuy"!! My man has soooo much knowledge and respect of Mayan culture. Jesus was on time with pick up and told us from the beginning the loose itinerary and let us know its a pick your own adventure type of vibe. If we wanted to stay longer at any one place we could just let him know. He was very chill at every location and let us feel absolutely no rush at any place. We spent most of the ride talking about Mayan culture and Chichen Itza facts, half the tour information was given before we even got out to pay the State Tax. In my opinion this added to the experience because you spent almost all morning talking about the wonders then you emerge from the jungle to see the Castillo, and its so much more impactful and breathtaking. Jesus gave you as much information as you wanted and no question was too much or too stupid. Jesus also unknowingly added to the experience every time he spoke mayan with colleagues and vendors. I just imagined that this is what it literally sounded like 1000 years ago. Guy really wanted you to get as much out of the experiance as you wanted. The cenote we went to was amazing and had about a 25ft deck you could jump from. super thrilling! the food was good, authentic enough and still the best salsa i had all week. My wife and I fell in love with Valladolid and even plan on staying next time we travel down to the Yucatan! The city vibe was safe, busling, the people were kind, just enjoying a Thursday afternoon, getting ready for the night's festivities. I wanted to do some street photography and Jesus let us walk to downtown and didn't mind that we stopped to take ALL the photos. Jesus was excellent, patient, and respectful of our needs during the entire trip! Nothing bad to say about him or the company, great choice, you can't go wrong. The Bad. Nothing the company can really control and they do a good job of letting the customer know beforehand. The toll road tax is ridiculously high. I live in Texas and pay a fair share for tolls but man this was wild. It came out to be about 900 pesos. Along the same theme, the "State Tax" for foreign tourist at the site was about 1400 pesos for two people. Kinda wild, i just don't know how many other UNESCO sites charge a tax, and one that's so much. Basically comes out to about 136 USD on top of the trip, notwithstanding what else you plan on buying. Short of it is, bring your pesos with you on this trip you certainly will need it. Again nothing the company can really control, but just felt at the end that the monetization of such rich culture and fantastic region of Mexico kinda tainted the vibe of such an amazing experience. However, would 100% book this company again, and do the trip again. They really know how to treat customers well and i didnt feel like i was in the middle of a cattle call like the vibe we were picking up from the other big Tours.

Jesus and Alan were great.

Had a great private tour to chichen itza, cenote Saamal (although cenote locations vary from what we were told) and small town of Valladolid with Jesus and Alan. Very informative and they have a true passion for the Mayan culture and archeological site. Highly recommend these guys. Never felt rushed, encouraged to take our time and took great pictures. We got picked up early in the hotel zone, it helped avoid the busy crowds from all the tour buses and were back to our hotel by 4-5pm. Would definitely book again when back in the Yucatán Peninsula. Some information that will be helpful for your future bookings. Toll road and chichen itza entrance fees are not included. You can pay in both pesos or credit card. However, pesos are encouraged at toll roads due to spotty internet, causing credit card terminals to not work. Worth the extra money and time. Thank you Jesus and Alan.

Chichen Private Experience: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Playa del Carmen.

How much does Chichen Private Experience cost?

+

Prices start at $149 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Playa del Carmen usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Chichen Private Experience take?

+

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Playa del Carmen is not rushed.

Is Chichen Private Experience worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 95 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 493 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Playa del Carmen, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.

Can I cancel or reschedule Chichen Private Experience?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Chichen Private Experience suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Chichen Private Experience?

+

Around 173 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Playa del Carmen can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Playa del Carmen and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Chichen Private Experience start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Playa del Carmen within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Playa del Carmen?

+

On Outty we rank every Playa del Carmen experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include VIP Chichen Itza Private Tour, VIP Tulum Private Tour, Chichen Itza Private Tour VIP. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Playa del Carmen?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Playa del Carmen?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
