Don't touch this tour - not recommended!
The Orga was a bit chaotic. 7 am pick-up time (not far from the hotel to the ferry pier). There meeting with the guides and other participants. Ferry not until 9:30. Upon arrival in Cozumel with well over 20 people (including 4 children) in the speedboat. English tour booked, but only one of the 3 guides on the boat had reluctantly translated the most necessary for us four Germans only on request, because all the other participants all spoke Spanish. I don't think you can do it at all on an English tour!!! The hammer was the situation of the seats on the boat. 4 people had to sit on the shelf (no seat) in front of the engines, although 3 seats were still available on both sides in the front area. Discussion did nothing. Supposedly because of the weight distribution. An absolute cheek! Only 2 of the 3 snorkeling points mentioned in the description were then approached. There you could see a few fish attracted by the guide with bread and some starfish, no sign of corals. A guide took photos underwater and these could be purchased afterwards overpriced. Sheer rip-off. Everyone thought it was time for the 3rd. Snorkel stop, but misread! Masks were collected and then stopped in shallow water off a beach and everyone had to get off the boat. There were many stingrays in the shallow water. That was the only highlight of the whole boat tour. There were then drinks and a snack and then we went back at full speed towards the port for 45 minutes. Again, the front seats remained free and some sat in front of the engines without backrest and upholstery. Afterwards we went soaking wet at a monkey's pace to a restaurant about 500 meters away. Moving quickly and then there was the food you had ordered from the guide in the morning. Unfortunately, everything is cold - fish, meat, rice... We then complained and got it warmed up back. The announced 2 hours at leisure in the city were then on Einmel over 3 hours (of course, we also skipped a stop by boat). It was said at 3pm that at 6:30pm we should take the ferry back and then at 7:15pm there would be the meeting for the return transports to the hotels. You could have taken an earlier ferry, but then you would have waited over there until 7:15. We felt pretty silly. We went around town a bit and had an ice cream and then put us in the shade for the last hour because the heat was unbearable. We then met our guides again on the ferry and were then quickly driven back to the hotel. Unfortunately, this tour is not worth the money. We had and promised much more of it. It's too bad. Then it’s better to take the ferry over on your own and walk a bit through the nice town. There are certainly also some points where you can see something while snorkeling. But we haven't seen those spots. Unfortunately, an absolute mess!

Itinerary not realistic and snorkeling was very underwhelming
We had high expectations for this tour but were greatly disappointed. The office staff we worked with were great, and the guides very nice. The main snorkeling excursion was lame: we saw 1 turtle, 1 starfish, and at the stingray site the goal was to serve us snacks and tequila with none of the guides facilitating any interaction with the stingrays. The trip from Cozumel to the snorkeling area was an hour each way on a small boat. This was not described anywhere in the itinerary. We signed up for this tour because we really appreciated the itinerary that included hotel pickup, ferry to Cozumel, snorkeling, time in Cozumel and then ferry/transportation back. By the time we were done snorkeling the last thing we wanted to do was hang out in town as we were wet and needed a bathroom. It was a bad call on our part to expect so much for one itinerary, however, as stated above, the main excursion of snorkeling was lame.
Response from the operator: Dear Tino Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We truly appreciate your honest comments, as they help us continue improving our experiences. First of all, we’re very glad to hear that our office staff and guides provided you with good service and were friendly during your tour. We will be sure to share your kind words with them. We are sorry to learn that the snorkeling portion of the excursion did not meet your expectations. Marine life sightings such as turtles, starfish, and stingrays can vary from day to day since they are in their natural habitat, but we understand that the experience you had felt limited and did not match what you were hoping for. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the boat travel time and the stop in town afterward. Your comments are very valuable and will help us review how we communicate the itinerary and timing of each part of the experience so future guests can have clearer expectations. Our goal is always to provide memorable and enjoyable tours, and we truly regret that this one did not meet the high expectations you had for your trip. Thank you again for your feedback and for choosing to travel with us. We hope you still had some enjoyable moments during your visit to the area, and we would love the opportunity to serve you again in the future. Kind regards, Roger Sánchez Conoce Lo Tuyo - Know Thy World

Great experience in Cozumel. Very nice francophone guide and great traditional Mexican meal. Diving with turtles and rays was beautiful.

The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Cozumel El Cielo Tour by Boat from Playa del Carmen & Transfer: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Playa del Carmen.
How much does Cozumel El Cielo Tour by Boat from Playa del Carmen & Transfer cost?
+
Prices start at $174 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Playa del Carmen usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Cozumel El Cielo Tour by Boat from Playa del Carmen & Transfer take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Playa del Carmen is not rushed.
Is Cozumel El Cielo Tour by Boat from Playa del Carmen & Transfer worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 48 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.5/5 across 12 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Playa del Carmen, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Cozumel El Cielo Tour by Boat from Playa del Carmen & Transfer?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Cozumel El Cielo Tour by Boat from Playa del Carmen & Transfer suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Cozumel El Cielo Tour by Boat from Playa del Carmen & Transfer?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Playa del Carmen can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Playa del Carmen and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cozumel El Cielo Tour by Boat from Playa del Carmen & Transfer start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Playa del Carmen within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Playa del Carmen?
+
On Outty we rank every Playa del Carmen experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include VIP Chichen Itza Private Tour, VIP Tulum Private Tour, Chichen Itza Private Tour VIP. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Playa del Carmen?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Playa del Carmen?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
