2. The Tanzanite Experience

   At this stop, you’ll discover the story of Tanzanite, one of the world’s rarest gemstones, found only in Tanzania at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. The Tanzanite Experience Museum takes you on a journey through: The discovery and history of Tanzanite, from its accidental find in 1967 to becoming a global treasure. Mining process – how the gem is carefully extracted from deep within the earth. Cultural and economic significance, showing why Tanzanite is often called “a thousand times rarer than diamonds.” Sparkling displays and craftsmanship – admire beautifully cut stones and learn how they are transformed into fine jewelry. 3. National Natural History Museum Arusha

   Housed inside the German Boma, a fort built in 1900 during the German colonial era, the Natural History Museum is one of Arusha’s most important cultural and educational landmarks. Originally constructed as a military outpost, the building itself reflects a chapter of Tanzania’s colonial history before independence. Inside the museum, you’ll explore exhibitions that highlight Tanzania’s role in the story of humanity.
