Our big & deeper appreciation for Tanzania's incredible biodiversity.

Our group of eight joined with Herbivore African Expeditions for 7 day Northern Tanzania birdwatching and wilddlife safari. Arriving in Arusha was the start of a well-planned expedition. And their team greeted us. We explored the Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Tarangire introduced us to a beautiful baobab landscape filled with birds and an impressive elephant family. Lake Manyara became one of my favorite destinations, as every part of the park seemed to attract a different species of animal, making every hour of bird watching worthwhile. Our guide was attentive and knowledgeable and was happy to stop whenever anyone saw an interesting bird or animal. This flexibility made the experience enjoyable for everyone. By the end of the week, we had plenty of time to get a good feel for each location, learn about the environment, and enjoy the trip together. It was a memorable safari that our group will remember forever.

We would happily recommend this safari to both bird enthusiasts and wildlife lovers.

Our group of four my wife, my best friends and his wife, we recently completed our 7-day Northern Tanzania Birdwatching and Wildlife Safari, and it was an extraordinary experience from start to finish. We joined primarily because we love bird watching, but the wildlife encounters made the trip worthwhile. The bird life was incredible. We saw countless species with bright colors and interesting behaviors, many of which we had never seen before. Our guide Moses was very professional and his expertise added tremendous value to the experience. The accommodations were clean and comfortable, and the overall organization was excellent. This safari was a wonderful mix of romantic, education, relaxation, photography, and adventure. We felt we were connected with Tanzania's incredible natural world. A fantastic wildlife adventure in Tanzania!

My wife and I recently took the 7-day bird watching and wildlife safari in northern Tanzania with HERBIVORE AFRICAN EXPEDITIONS, and it was truly an extraordinary experience. As passionate bird lovers, we were looking for a safari that combined intense bird watching with Tanzania’s peaceful landscape and wildlife, and this trip fully met our expectations. Our adventure started in Arusha, where everything was organized smoothly and our guide welcomed us warmly. In the first days we explored the beautiful Momella Lakes, a peaceful area surrounded by forests and open plains. The landscape in Lake Manyara National Park changed again. The mixture of forest, lake and open habitat ensured that we constantly discovered something new. Exploring the vast plains of Serengeti National Park was another unforgettable part of the trip. The last highlight of our exploration tour was the Ngorongoro Crater with its breathtaking wildlife observations – animals everywhere. Thanks to the excellent organizing team, we enjoyed every moment.

Amazing 7 days experience.

Our 7 days with Herbivore African Expeditions, and the safari struck the perfect balance between bird watching and classic African wildlife experiences. As a group of eight friends and I, we appreciated how flexible and group-friendly the itinerary was. Arusha gave us a soft landing in Tanzania, while Tarangire introduced us to vast elephant herds and rare bird species that we had only seen in books. Lake Manyara was incredibly diverse - lush forests, lakeside birds and tree-climbing lions - all in one place. The Serengeti was fascinating to many of us, not just for the game but also for the incredible variety of grassland birds that thrive there. The Ngorongoro Crater felt like stepping into a natural amphitheater teeming with life. Our guide was perfect and very professional. He made sure everyone in the group felt included, whether they were die-hard birders or casual wildlife enthusiasts. This trip worked perfectly for friends traveling together, providing shared experiences as well as opportunities for personal moments of reflection and discovery.

7-Day Northern Tanzania Birdwatching and Wildlife Safari: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Arusha.

How much does 7-Day Northern Tanzania Birdwatching and Wildlife Safari cost?

+

Prices start at $1390 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Arusha usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 7-Day Northern Tanzania Birdwatching and Wildlife Safari take?

+

Plan for about 168 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Arusha is not rushed.

Is 7-Day Northern Tanzania Birdwatching and Wildlife Safari worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Arusha, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 7-Day Northern Tanzania Birdwatching and Wildlife Safari?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 7-Day Northern Tanzania Birdwatching and Wildlife Safari suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 168-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book 7-Day Northern Tanzania Birdwatching and Wildlife Safari?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Arusha can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Arusha and add a light layer if any part of the 168-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 7-Day Northern Tanzania Birdwatching and Wildlife Safari start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Arusha within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Arusha?

+

On Outty we rank every Arusha experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Materuni Waterfalls, coffee tour & Kikuletwa Hot Springs, 4 Days Group Camping Safari, 3 Days Serengeti & Ngorongoro Group Camping Safari. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Arusha?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Arusha?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
