Great Waterfall, not so great coffee tour
We enjoyed this tour, Emmanuel was our guide and he went out his way to make it a great tour. There are 2 suggestions for improvement: 1. The drive from Arusha to the start of the hike was 2.5 hours. Therefore, the entire tour was almost 9 hours, not 6 as described. 2. The coffee tour was too long, 1.5 hours. There is an insistence to buy coffee or make a donation. The lunch was at this site too and the coffee doctor joined us on the lunch. We preferred to have lunch ourselves without him. The waterfall was beautiful and with the 45 minute hike.

Materuni coffee is the best :)
Very nice trip! The driver Emmanuel was very flexible and friendly and told us interesting facts about the plants we encountered on our way. The 2 hour hike was very pleasant and the views were breathtaking. The coffee experience was very entertaining! We won't forget it in a long time :)

Great experience with the chagga villages.
The tour was amazing, firstly, you do the 30-45 minute walk around the Chagga villages and in the wilderness to get to the waterfall. You can swim or just stand there, amazed on the incredible nature of that spot. After that, you’ll live an amazing experience on how the local tribes produce coffee, with their chants and energy, and of course, get a taste of it. The experience is super recommended, and you can get a good picture of the Kilimanjaro.

Memorable day
We booked this trip with the Serengeti Safari Booking. We highly recommend this tour operator company. Trip to Meturani Coffee Plantation and Waterfall in Kilimanjaro with Lucas and Asterey: Another unforgettable day - taking a hike to the waterfall in Kilimanjaro with Lucas and Asterey. This hike to the base of the waterfall was challenging for us considering our ages ~ 70! But it gave us a wonderful sense of accomplishment when we did complete it. Again Lucas (a maasai tribe member) and Asterey (who belonged to the local Chad tribe) were our guides. They introduced us to all the unique local vegetation, birds during the hike. Awesome. After the hike, we visited Asterey's grandma for the most wonderful home-made Tanzanian meal ever. Then, finally, we assisted Asterey and his young, local friends clean the coffee beans, roast the beans, pound it and prepare the best coffee in the world - Arabica coffee that grows in Tanzania.

Karibu Sana in Materuni!
Together with Deus I walk up to the waterfall. Even if it is rainy season I would suggest to enjoy the trip, the place is amazing! People in Materuni are very friendly, and Mama Agnes at the coffee plantation prepares such good dishes for lunch!!! And what else... Cannot not talk about the guys who teach you how to prepare coffe! So funny and kind! Asante Sana
Response from the operator: We're so glad you enjoyed the trip! Thanks for sharing your review!

Why this scores 60
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Waterfall & Coffee Walking Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Arusha.
How much does Waterfall & Coffee Walking Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $150 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Arusha usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Waterfall & Coffee Walking Tour take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Arusha is not rushed.
Is Waterfall & Coffee Walking Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Arusha, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Waterfall & Coffee Walking Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Waterfall & Coffee Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Waterfall & Coffee Walking Tour?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Arusha can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Arusha and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Waterfall & Coffee Walking Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Arusha within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Arusha?
+
On Outty we rank every Arusha experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Arusha Guided City Tour &Hotel Pickup (History, Culture &Market, 5 Days Camping Tarangire, Serengeti & Ngorongoro crater & Visiting Maasai, Materuni Waterfalls, coffee tour & Kikuletwa Hot Springs. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Arusha?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Arusha?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in Waterfall & Coffee Walking Tour?
+
Included: Private transportation; Other; Lunch; and In-vehicle air conditioning. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.
Does Waterfall & Coffee Walking Tour include hotel pickup?
+
Yes, pickup is offered, or you can meet at the start point instead from 21 listed pickup locations in and around Arusha. Be ready about 5 minutes before the start time. You can also enter a custom pickup address when booking.
What languages is Waterfall & Coffee Walking Tour offered in?
+
