What you'll see and do
Peninsula Valdes
Whale season: from June to mid-December. We leave early for the Valdes Peninsula Natural Protected Area. Along the way we will make a stop at the Carlos Ameghino Isthmus, where we will visit the Interpretation Center. From its viewpoint we will have the possibility to observe both gulfs at the same time, understand the geographical characteristics of the peninsula and appreciate the Island of Birds.
60 minutes here · Admission not included
Centro De Visitantes Istmo Ameghino
This interpretation center is a must, where we will know in detail the flora and fauna of this wonderful World Heritage Site: Valdés Peninsula. A few meters away, you will find a panoramic tower from where you can observe Bird Island and discover the inspiration of the aviator and writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Was it a hat... or a cobra that ate an elephant?
30 minutes here
Puerto Piramides
Only urban center within the peninsula. We will tour the place and, between late June and early December, those who wish can take the whale watching excursion (paid separately).
120 minutes here
Caleta Valdes
We can observe this impressive natural formation where a sea tongue enters the earth. Here it is possible to observe a wide variety of fauna such as elephant seals, penguins (according to mid-September to early April season), sea lions and, hopefully, killer whales performing intentional strandings to feed.
45 minutes here
Punta Norte
Between December and May, we recommend not to miss this stop. Here is an important continental colony of sea lions and is considered one of the best places in the world to try to observe orcas by performing intentional strandings to feed. In addition, the site has an interesting interpretation center that complements the experience.
45 minutes here
Punta Delgada
Between June and December, we recommend visiting the southern part of the peninsula, where it is possible to observe salt flats, elephant seals, sea lions and a wide variety of terrestrial fauna.

Whale Watching boat ride a must
The boat ride a must and the Captain Jorge was amazing. He knew exactly where to stop to watch whales mating then the came super close to the boat. Not low enough to touch thw whales but they were touching the boat and playing around, under us, it was the most amazing experience. I was here end of august, try to come September onwards during pe guin mating season.

The Best of Peninsula Valdés in one day: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Madryn.
How much does The Best of Peninsula Valdés in one day cost?
+
Prices start at $125 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Madryn usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does The Best of Peninsula Valdés in one day take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Madryn is not rushed.
Is The Best of Peninsula Valdés in one day worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 92 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 243 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Puerto Madryn, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.
Can I cancel or reschedule The Best of Peninsula Valdés in one day?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is The Best of Peninsula Valdés in one day suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book The Best of Peninsula Valdés in one day?
+
Around 85 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Madryn can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Madryn and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does The Best of Peninsula Valdés in one day start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Madryn within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Puerto Madryn?
+
On Outty we rank every Puerto Madryn experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Shore Tours Punta Tombo Cruise Ship Passengers Puerto Madryn, Snorkeling with Sea Lions by Madryn Buceo, Cruise Shore Excursion Punta Tombo with Boxlunch from Pto Madryn. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Puerto Madryn?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Puerto Madryn?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
