About this experience
• A boat chosen for exploration, not transport The layout allows easy movement, long hours on the water, and smooth navigation. You stay comfortable while remaining close to the action. • A different way of operating Many tours follow fixed routes and strict timing. This safari adapts in real time to ocean conditions and animal behavior. -East Cape focus This experience explores the East Cape, with less traffic and cleaner water. -A team that reads the ocean daily They understand seasons, currents, and patterns built over years. -Marine knowledge behind every move Approach, positioning, and timing are based on behavior, not pressure. -Calm leadership during water entries When swimming is possible, entries are guided and controlled. You feel safe and supported, never rushed. This is not a packaged activity. It is an expedition shaped by people who know when to wait, when to move, and when to stay still.

Best Experience in Los Cabos
just had the most incredible experience with Dip Expeditions on their Ocean Safari, and I can't recommend it enough. From start to finish, the entire trip was professional, high energy, and deeply respectful of the local marine life. Why It’s a Must-Do: The Marine Life: We saw orcas, and not much else all of the other animals where hifing from this apex predator. The guides have a "nature first" approach that makes the encounters feel authentic and ethical. The Crew: The team is clearly passionate about the Baja ecosystem. They aren't just boat captains; they are knowledgeable guides who share fascinating insights about the animals and the environment. Top-Notch Gear: Everything from the snorkeling equipment to the boat itself was clean, modern, and well-maintained, which made the day seamless. If you’re looking for a generic boat tour, go elsewhere. But if you want a true, raw, and educational adventure in Los Cabos, this is the one. It’s a 10/10 for me—I’ll definitely be back for another expedition! Tip for travelers: Make sure to bring reef-safe sunscreen and your GoPro—you’re going to want to capture these memories!
Response from the operator: Wow, thank you for this review, you absolutely got the DIP experience. Orcas showing up and clearing the whole neighborhood is exactly the kind of raw, real moment we live for out there. The crew is going to love reading this, they put their heart into every trip and it shows when guests like you notice the difference. Great call on the reef-safe sunscreen and GoPro tip too, spot on. Whenever you're ready for round two, we'll have a spot for you. Mobulas, sharks, whales, there's always more out there. See you soon!

Outfitter no show'd but were quick to charge and keep my money. Be Warned!!
I frequent San Jose del Cabo as I have friends in this area, I paddle canoe at the veleros beach club, and visit at least 3-4x per year. This was the first trip I had a free day to go adventure solo and given the perfect conditions, thought this would be the best way to spend the day snorkeling in the open water. I realized the morning of my booking I was the only one reserved for the 130pm tour so I messaged ocean safari. No response. I went down to the dock as instructed in the confirmation email 15mins ahead of time to make sure I could find the "Chalupa I" boat in time. No one was anywhere near chalupa 1. Thankfully a couple friendly boat captains cleaning off their boats nearby as well as a deckhand saw me wondering and offered to help. They said they knew the owner and tried calling him. Unfortunately he did not answer. The deckhand even walked me up to the Marina guard who keeps cars from entering the marina unless permitted. The guard also confirmed no one from ocean safari was seen that day. He even called ocean safari (not sure who exactly he called) - again, no answer. I called ocean safari, no option to leave a VM. I immediately messaged viator who I booked through and frustratingly was told they had to confirm with ocean safari before refunding me. At this point it was 215pm. For being one of, if not THE most expensive open water snorkel guide out of San jose, the very least you can do is respond to someone who preemptively was seeking confirmation that we were still on as I recognize it wasn't intentionally a private charter. Shame on viator for "seeking confirmation" from an outfitter that was CLEARLY negligent. I chatted with 3 separate viator agents they all told me the same thing. Second one hung up on me. Although it's been over 24hrs, I've yet to hear from anyone. Not ocean safari, not viator, and the full charge remains billed to my credit card. Completely unacceptable. What would've potentially been a new part of my frequent San Jose trip, has not only lost my business but I'll never again book on viator again.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I completely understand your frustration, and I'm sorry you had such a disappointing day. That said, I want to respectfully clarify that this review has been posted on the wrong business listing. We are Dip Expeditions. We do not operate a boat called "Chalupa I," we have no booking on file for your name on those dates, and we do not run tours at the time you mentioned. Ocean Safari is a popular experience offered by multiple operators in the area, so it's easy for a mix-up like this to happen. If this had happened on one of our trips, I would own it without hesitation. But this experience was not with us, and I want to make sure your review reaches the correct operator so it can be properly addressed. I'd encourage you to reach out to Viator again and confirm which operator was actually assigned to your booking so your complaint reaches the right company. I hope your next visit to San José del Cabo is a much better experience.

Killer whales and false killer whales all in one day!
We had a blast seeing the wildlife of the waters. It's an intimate size group you go with so good opportunity to chat at-length with your guide. And we got to see killer whales plus false killer whales, we even got to swim with the false killer whales! Would recommend if you are in Cabo, a good reason to wake up early one morning!

Why this scores 75
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Sea of Cortez Safari !Amazing animal encounters!: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Los Cabos.
How much does Sea of Cortez Safari !Amazing animal encounters! cost?
+
Prices start at $180 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Los Cabos usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Sea of Cortez Safari !Amazing animal encounters! take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Los Cabos is not rushed.
Is Sea of Cortez Safari !Amazing animal encounters! worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 36 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Los Cabos, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Sea of Cortez Safari !Amazing animal encounters!?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Sea of Cortez Safari !Amazing animal encounters! suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 12. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 5-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Sea of Cortez Safari !Amazing animal encounters!?
+
Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Los Cabos can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Los Cabos and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Sea of Cortez Safari !Amazing animal encounters! start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Los Cabos within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Los Cabos?
+
On Outty we rank every Los Cabos experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cabo 4x4 ATV Tour with Tequila Tasting and Mexican Buffet Lunch, Ziplining and UTV Desert Adventure from Los Cabos, Cabo Beach Camel Ride, Mexican Buffet and Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Los Cabos?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Los Cabos?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
