About this experience

Whale sharks are the largest fish in the sea, reaching lengths of 40 feet (12 meters) or more, and whale sharks have an enormous menu from which to choose. Fortunately for most sea-dwellers—and us!—their favorite meal is plankton. They scoop these tiny plants and animals up, along with any small fish that happen to be around, with their colossal gaping mouths while swimming close to the water’s surface.

This is a scam

This is not what was promised by the tour description. The description promised transportation in an air conditioned van by a professional Chauffeur. Transportation was in a 20+ year old Toyota Camry by a random guy and his girlfriend. The reimposed snacks and water and “English speaking guide. Neither the driver or his girlfriend spoke any English. Obviously there were no snacks as we sat in the back seat of the worn out Camry for the 2+ hour drive. I don’t blame the driver at all. He was just trying to earn a payday and did a good job. Also on the boat the guides spoke no English so it was hard to understand what was happening. Seeing and swimming with a whale shark is amazing but find a legitimate tour company. Not this scam

Response from the operator: First, the vehicle used for your transportation was a Volkswagen Vento 2020, and the driver who picked you up has been working with us for more than 5 years. The person sitting next to him was his girlfriend, not another passenger. Because your reservation was for only two people, we did not send a full van, as we reserve those for larger groups. Regarding the water and snacks, these are always provided on the boat, not during the transportation, which is also what was prepared for your tour. Our boat guide speaks English, and we are sorry if there was any misunderstanding at any moment on board. We are glad you enjoyed the experience of swimming with the whale shark, and we appreciate your comments. We will continue to improve communication to make sure expectations are clear for every guest.

How far in advance should I book Snorkel with a Whale Shark In Los Cabos?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Los Cabos can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Los Cabos and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Snorkel with a Whale Shark In Los Cabos start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Los Cabos within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Los Cabos?

+

On Outty we rank every Los Cabos experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cabo 4x4 ATV Tour with Tequila Tasting and Mexican Buffet Lunch, Ziplining and UTV Desert Adventure from Los Cabos, Cabo Beach Camel Ride, Mexican Buffet and Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Los Cabos?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Los Cabos?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
