Amazing Experience!
Amazing experience exploring Hana. The rainforest region is beautiful and our guide provided was knowledgeable and passed his love of the region to us through the sites, sounds, and experiences of all things Hana.
Response from the operator: Mahalo Nui Loa for choosing for this experience! Yes, we share the love for Hana, so that you carry the real Aloha back home. Come visit us again to discover the rest of the island!

Perfect!
Demian/Makana Maui Adventures was the perfect guide for our family. We had spoken with him before our trip and it was very clear that he listened to and understood everything we discussed with him. We spent four amazing days with Demian. First we did the two day trip to Hana, one day going to Hana, an overnight there, and an incredible exciting day driving back. We experienced much, much more than we would have been able to if we had opted for the one day trip there and back. After that we had two wonderful days exploring the northwestern part of Maui and Mt. Haleakala. We are very active 70 year olds traveling with our 18 and 19 year old grandsons. Demian took us to places we never would have gone on our own; each day was thrilling and fun-filled. Demian is extremely flexible and great fun to be with. He has extensive knowledge of Maui (and of all of Hawaii) and loves to share it. All four of us had an amazing time; we could not have asked for anything more.
Response from the operator: Thank you for such glowing feedback! Those were exceptional days, with three generations team playing on all of the experiences! Inspirational goal, to be like you two later in life. Your grandsons were awesome, respectful, and ready for anything exciting! I remember those days… 😉. My multi day experiences bring a deeper purpose to my mission. What a wonderful bonding experience. You’re extended family now… 🤙🏽

You're awesome Keone!
Absolutely incredible. I had initially booked this because I really wanted to hike the pipiwai trail and you CAN do that if you want, however its almost 6 hrs to go around all Haleakala so, you will be spending the majority of your time driving to the 2 hour hike, and then driving back. Keone asked us what our goals were and we decided it would be best to let a local tell us what he recommends and I'm so glad we did. We didn't hike pipiwai, and instead we got to go swimming in 2 different waterfalls, 1 was almost private with no one else there, we got to stop for snacks, eat a coconut, explore a cave with no one else there, which was probably the coolest part, climb a Banyan tree, see the rainbow trees, and stop several times to see everything from tide pools with sea cucumbers, to try deep fried poi(so delicious) to watching more waterfalls and even hiked through a bamboo forest, again with no one else there. He took photos along the way, told us about the plants and the history of the land. We even got to stop to eat the best fish burger ever at a restaurant in Hana. And no stress about driving the road to Hana. It was probably the best part of our entire stay in Maui. I will definitely book it again with Keone next time we visit. He was amazing! Mahalo Keone for making our honeymoon so private and wonderful! We loved your company and hope to see you again soon!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to write this outstanding review! I am very happy to hear it was the highlight of your trip to Maui. Keone shared how long of an amazing day it was, and really appreciate him going the extra mile for you both. Sounds like you had a very diverse full day. Yes! please visit us again. There is more to explore with you!

Amazing Hidden Gems Tour.
We did a Private Hidden Gems Rainforest tour with kids ages 15, 13 and 12. Demian (tour company owner) was our guide. We had an AMAZING day. The hikes were challenging and adventurous and the waterfalls we saw were amazing. We hiked to 3 separate waterfalls/swimming holes and, at each location, we were the only people there. We also stopped at a beach, in a small town for snacks and amazing coastal views. Demian was a tremendous tour guide. We really enjoyed visiting with him throughout the day. He was knowledgeable of Hawaiian history and the local plants. He was a calm presence who encouraged our kids to try fun and exciting jumps and rope swings. He kept the tour moving but also allowed us plenty of time to enjoy each spot. Demian can customize any tour but if you want an exciting, challenging and adventurous day that maximizes time immersed the beauty of Hawaii, the Hidden Gems Rainforest tour is for you!!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this outstanding review. Welcome to the perks of booking directly with the company for more options! That day was absolutely perfect, the weather, great company to share these experiences with, and great timing everywhere! For the record, we actually did 5 waterfalls in 3 areas. That's a lot! Mahalo for making my job the dream job. It wouldn't be the same without clients like you!

Best day in paradise
The customization was crucial to our decision and Demian made it just perfect for our desires. We would do it again and again!
Response from the operator: Thank you! That's what it takes to truly discover this rainforest, returning again and again! I hope Maui has left a lasting impression to do just that, discover more! Until the next time...

Why this scores 76
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Road to Hana Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Maui.
How much does Private Road to Hana Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $575 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Maui usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Road to Hana Tour take?
+
Plan for about 9.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Maui is not rushed.
Is Private Road to Hana Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 76 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 65 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Maui, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Road to Hana Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Road to Hana Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Road to Hana Tour?
+
Around 23 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Maui can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Maui and add a light layer if any part of the 9.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Road to Hana Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Maui within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Maui?
+
Maui's three signature days are the Hana road, the Haleakala summit sunrise and the Molokini snorkel sail, and all three are logistics problems as much as experiences. Sunrise summit entry is permit-controlled, Hana is a ten-hour driving day, and Molokini boats vary wildly in size. Our ranking rewards operators who handle permits and keep boat capacity low. On Outty we rank every Maui experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Molokini Crater + South Maui Coast Adventure from Kihei, Maui, Maui: VIP Private Road to Hana Tour with Pick Up, Road to Hana Adventure Maui Tour with Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Maui?
+
April to May and September to October. Whale season runs December to April. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Maui?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
