1 star – the customer service is what made this unacceptable
The tour itself was disappointing, but I fully understand that wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. That alone would not have led me to leave a one-star review. What did was the way the situation was handled afterwards. Our original departure time was changed from 8:30am to 11:00am, which caused significant disruption to our plans and additional costs. We still went ahead with the tour because we had already planned our day around it and had limited alternatives. When I raised my concerns afterwards, the customer service from the local operator was incredibly dismissive and, at times, outright rude. One response included the comment, “You don’t get to go on the tour for free.” That completely missed the point of my complaint and was an unnecessarily confrontational way to speak to a paying customer. I then escalated the issue to Viator several times. Rather than acknowledging the poor handling of the situation, apologising, or offering even a small goodwill gesture, they repeatedly relied on the operator’s account and eventually told me their decision was final. An apology and some basic understanding of why the experience had been frustrating would honestly have gone a long way. I even said I would have accepted Viator credit rather than a cash refund. Instead, I ultimately had to raise the matter with American Express, who reviewed the situation and provided a full refund. So credit where it’s due: Amex handled this far better than Viator did. The disappointing tour could have been forgiven. The rude and dismissive customer service afterwards is what turned this into a one-star experience.

We had a great time...
We had a great time searching and finding dolphins with Captain Jack and Bree. They were very informative and fun to interact with. I especially appreciated the shade parts of the boat rather than full sun. We saw some sea turtles and dolphins which was awesome. We would definitely recommend this tour and are making plans to come back for whale watching season.
Response from the operator: So happy you had a great time on our Dolphin Watch! Maui has wonderful wildlife and we enjoy showing them off to our guests. Mahalo for supporting our small business. We hope to see you again for Whale watch season.

No dolphins
Only reason for 4 stars is we didn't see any dolphins which was a big disappointment
Response from the operator: Sorry we couldn't find you any dolphins. They're wild animals and some days they are more elusive than others. We hope you enjoyed the boat ride and views of Maui County. Mahalo for joining us.

Great Dolphin sightseeing experience
The dolphin watching tour was great, with a ton of dolphins to see. The site needs to warn male customers that they need to use sun screen on their heads as hats will fall off while riding. Also, need to have a runner on the dock where you board the boat or something else to keep your feet from badly burning from the scorching cement.
Response from the operator: So glad you had a great time on the dolphin watch! We appreciate you supporting our small Maui business. During our pre-boarding safety briefing I did warn everyone not to take their shoes off until just before boarding the boat.

Maui Eco-Raft Tour: Eye-Level Whale or Dolphin Watching - Lahaina: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Maui.
How much does Maui Eco-Raft Tour: Eye-Level Whale or Dolphin Watching - Lahaina cost?
+
Prices start at $85 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Maui usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Maui Eco-Raft Tour: Eye-Level Whale or Dolphin Watching - Lahaina take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Maui is not rushed.
Is Maui Eco-Raft Tour: Eye-Level Whale or Dolphin Watching - Lahaina worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 92 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 2,855 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Maui, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.
Can I cancel or reschedule Maui Eco-Raft Tour: Eye-Level Whale or Dolphin Watching - Lahaina?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Maui Eco-Raft Tour: Eye-Level Whale or Dolphin Watching - Lahaina suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Maui Eco-Raft Tour: Eye-Level Whale or Dolphin Watching - Lahaina?
+
Around 999 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Maui can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Maui and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Maui Eco-Raft Tour: Eye-Level Whale or Dolphin Watching - Lahaina start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Maui within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Maui?
+
Maui's three signature days are the Hana road, the Haleakala summit sunrise and the Molokini snorkel sail, and all three are logistics problems as much as experiences. Sunrise summit entry is permit-controlled, Hana is a ten-hour driving day, and Molokini boats vary wildly in size. Our ranking rewards operators who handle permits and keep boat capacity low. On Outty we rank every Maui experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Molokini Crater + South Maui Coast Adventure from Kihei, Maui, West Maui Snorkeling Experience by Boat from Ka'anapali, Small Group Waterfall and Rainforest Hiking Adventure on Maui. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Maui?
+
April to May and September to October. Whale season runs December to April. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Maui?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
