The Wildlife Experience of a Lifetime
We arrived in Tanzania, having never been to Africa before. To say we were blown away by the beauty of the country and the warmth of its people would be an understatement. Our 7-day Wildebeest Calving Season safari with Meru Slopes Tours & Safaris was, quite simply, the most magical experience of our lives. The Planning The journey started with Gift. As a first-timer, I had a lot of questions. Gift was an absolute saint. He answered every single one of them, one by one, with so much patience and care. I chose Meru Slopes specifically because Gift’s thoroughness left me with zero doubt that we were in the right hands. Gift met us on arrival day to ensure we know everything about our logistics and encouraged us to learn by asking about Africa and Tanzania. The Team From the moment Josef, our transfer driver, met us at JRO airport we felt the genuine hospitality of Tanzania. But the true soul of our trip was our game drive guide and driver, Jacob. He was patient, professional, and had "eagle eyes" for spotting wildlife. Jacob also taught us some swahili and so much about Tanzania's natural reserves and people. The Wildlife (The Absolute Highlight!) Because of Jacob’s dedication, we saw nature in action in ways we never thought possible: * The Big Five: We feel so lucky to have checked off the entire list! * The Big Cats: Multiple lion prides, several leopards, including the most precious cubs!), and multiple cheetahs. * The Drama: We witnessed a heart-pounding cheetah chase, saw leopards and cheetahs with their kills, and even watched different kinds of vultures and Marabou storks fighting over carrion as hyenas watched. * The Migration: Seeing the Wildebeest with their young ones was deeply moving, and we even had Zebras grazing right outside our tent at Kontiki Camp! * The Rare Finds: From the massive elephant herds in Tarangire to flamingos, hippos, and the rarely-sighted Honey Badger. We also saw jackals, and countless species of eagles. Accommodations & Hospitality The lodges Gift chose, Under the Shade Safari Lodge, Farm of Dreams Lodge, Ngorongoro Lion’s Paw, and Kontiki Ndutu Camp, were all incredible. Every single location was spotlessly clean, felt completely safe, and offered delicious food. A Special First Anniversary What made this even more emotional was that we were celebrating our first wedding anniversary. The teams at Farm of Dreams and Kontiki organized such intimate, thoughtful, and unforgettable celebrations for us. We are already planning to come back with our family and there is no question: we will be choosing Meru Slopes to plan that trip too. Thank you, Gift and Jacob, for making our first trip to Africa a masterpiece of memories.

Incredible safari experience! Best guide, Jacob, and wonderful accommodations with a comfortable Land Cruiser.
This bucket list trip was everything we had dreamed of and more! We were hopeful that all our planning would come to fruition and it exceeded our expectations! We were picked up at 3am at JRO airport by the Meru Slopes driver and taken to a cute hotel in Arusha where we spent two days. Almachius had our trip planned out perfectly and to start, he sent us a guide and driver (thank you Nathan and Innocent!) free of charge, to show us around Arusha which we thoroughly enjoyed. The next day, our amazing guide Jacob picked us up in our comfortable private Land Cruiser outfitted with water, soda, beer and wine and we set off for the experience of a lifetime! Jacob was the perfect guide, as his 12 years of experience and keen eye gave him the knowledge to find all the animals we wanted to see and then some! He was also able to maneuver us into the perfect photo taking positions and we were even able to get great shots of the elusive leopards and rhinos. I also wanted to express that we felt very safe with Jacob and his excellent driving skills, as the roads in the parks are sometimes very difficult to maneuver. Over the course of our 7 day safari in Tarangire, Serengeti, Ndutu, and Ngorongoro we saw over 20 different wild animals and over 30 different birds including the Big 5 and the Ugly 5. Our day in the Serengeti we saw 35 lions including many cubs. This time of year (January-February) is especially good for seeing all the animals with their babies. Almost every animal we saw had babies with them which was really special to see. All our accommodations were beautiful and we especially like the Signature Serengeti tented camp and the Lions Paw Lodge in Ngorongoro. Overall we had the trip of a lifetime with the help of the team at Meru Slopes and would highly recommend them for your next safari.

Great Experience
We had a great time on our 5 night, 6 day safari. We read about meru slopes through reviews and they did not disappoint. While we were in the process of booking we had all of our questions answered promptly and were able to make a quick decision because of their fast response time. Almachius met us the day before at our hotel to have a safari briefing and answer any questions we may have. We felt good after having the briefing. Our driver Max was a very polite, friendly and knowledgeable man who we felt very lucky to have had as a driver. He drove very safe, was a smooth shifter and had great knowledge of every bump in the road. We were asked what we really wanted to see and he did his best to make sure we were able to see everything possible. I wouldn't have wanted a different driver. It was a pleasure getting to know him and are grateful for the time we spent together. Our stays at hotels and camps were all nice and it was great to not think about anything and just be driven to each hotel or camp and picked up in the morning. Max was always early and waiting for us which we read alot of other companies not do well. Also, out vehicle was very reliable, another reason I booked with them. Many vehicles were on the side of the road broken down but not one meru slopes jeep. You definitely can tell they're well maintained vehicles. Lastly, we were driven to the airport by Nixon. We had an amazing conversation all the way to the airport and enjoyed the ride. We were 15 minutes early and he was already waiting for us. This takes away some stress because the company has your money and the safari is done so you may wonder will they show up on time or at all. They definitely came through with a comfortable van to get us from Arusha to Mount Kilimanjaro Airport. All in all we would definitely recommend this company and it's very clear that they are well managed and do a great job hiring drivers.

Unforgettable Safari Experience with Jacob!
had an amazing safari experience in Tanzania, and Jacob was the best guide we could have asked for! He was always on time, incredibly professional, and his sharp eyesight was truly impressive—he spotted a rhino from a distance before anyone else did! Jacob is an excellent driver, making us feel completely safe and comfortable throughout the trip. He’s also very friendly and talkative, sharing interesting stories and even teaching us how to sing Hakuna Matata. His attention to detail and service mindset were outstanding—he cleaned the vehicle every day, ensuring we always had a pleasant ride. If you’re planning a safari in Tanzania, I highly recommend Jacob. He made our trip unforgettable

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Arusha?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
