It has been a cultural excursion and we have known a little more the history of Porto we have known the history of Portugal

It was a surprise the two excursions, the two palaces with so much history and life. Queluz, its gardens also planned with a harmony of sculptures and landscape. The palace is home to styles marked by Baroque, Rococo and Neoclassicism. The Palace of Mafra, we were surprised by the magnificent Portuguese baroque, and its imposing palace-convent, its naravillous library and its colony of bats.

¡Venid a visitarnos pronto otra vez!

    Excellent!

It was a day filled with unique architecture, interesting history, and culinary delights. Sandra was a fount of knowledge, and her driving skills are awesome. If getting a car in and out of tight parking spaces was an Olympic skill, Sandra would be a gold medalist. The food was memorably good, from the morning lactose-free pastry to the amazing seafood lunch by the ocean. Thank you, Sandra, for a fantastic tour.

Response from the operator: Hi June, I'm going to demand that gold medal from the Olympic Committee :) I'm so happy to know that you had an excellent tour to Mafra and Queluz, full of unique architecture, and that you had a memorably good lunch at Ericeira. Oh, and the "Fradinhos" of course, the delicious pastry! It was a pleasure, as always, to share with you the history and culinary delights of Portugal. See you soon ;) Sandra

Highlight of our 2 weeks in Portugal

At age 74, I came to Portugal with my family in March 2024 to connect with the land of my Azorean grandparents — and to talk to someone who could explain the country to me. Tour guide Sandra Pestana of No Map Tours checked both boxes. Above all, she’s a superb guide with an encyclopedic knowledge of — and love for — Portuguese history. We learned so much from her during our trip to the Queluz National Palace and the National Palace of Mafra. Equally important, she’s witty, fun, and dedicated to her clients’ comfort. She recommended a wonderful seafood place on the ocean at Ericeira for our lunch. And she never rushed us. Best of all, she was patient and candid with this old Portuguese man from America who had so many questions about his heritage. Our afternoon with Sandra was magical! -David Oliveria

Response from the operator: Wow, David, thank you so-so much for the glowing review. I can't believe it was already in March that I showed you, and your beautiful family, Portugal. It was great to meet you and your family. You will forever remain in my heart. It's always moving to see a Portuguese wanting to know more about his ancestors and original homeland. I was thrilled to hear that you all enjoyed the Mafra and Queluz Palaces Tour, and that my tour was the highlight of your 2 weeks in Portugal, wow! That's raising the bar! So happy to know you had a wonderful lunch at Ericeira, too. And the 70's are the new 50s, I expect you here again soon ;) I can’t wait to welcome you back :) Sandra Pestana

    Great Day with Sandra

We had an excellent tour of the palaces in Sintra with Sandra. Sandra is an excellent guide who balances letting you explore along with her deep knowledge of the locations. I'll also give mention to her incredibly comfortable car which made the journey between locations very relaxed.

Response from the operator: That's so good to hear JMac! We are happy to read you had a great day visiting the palaces with Sandra. Thank you for your nice words and for taking the time to share it. Cheers,

Mafra and Queluz Palaces Private Tour with Tickets: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.

How much does Mafra and Queluz Palaces Private Tour with Tickets cost?

    +

Prices start at $219 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Mafra and Queluz Palaces Private Tour with Tickets take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.

Is Mafra and Queluz Palaces Private Tour with Tickets worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Mafra and Queluz Palaces Private Tour with Tickets?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Mafra and Queluz Palaces Private Tour with Tickets suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Mafra and Queluz Palaces Private Tour with Tickets?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Mafra and Queluz Palaces Private Tour with Tickets start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Lisbon?

    +

On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lisbon?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lisbon?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
