What you'll see and do
Kikuletwa Hotsprings
If you’re in the mood for a day trip, a place off the beaten path were tourists and locals mingle, look no farther. Chemka hot springs or maji moto ( Swahili for hot water) is a little oasis located off of a dusty road about two hours from Arusha. Enjoy the naturally warm water caused by underground geothermal springs. If you are feeling lazy you can bask in the pool or, if you‘re are feeling more adventurous, you can swim or jump from the rope swing. After you are done swimming, you can enjoy some local food cooked fresh for you. Our personal favorite is chips mayai, which is basically a French fry omelette. What’s not to love? As you are approaching Moshi keep your eyes open because every so often the clouds part and you can catch a glimpse of the iconic Mt. Kilimanjaro! End of the Day Trip: Carry the tranquility and revitalization with you as you continue your Tanzanian adventure or depart with memories that will last a lifetime.

Hot Springs Oasis
We had a great day with Hillary visiting the hot springs. He is professional, knowledgeable, and we really enjoyed spending the day with him. The hot springs are off the beaten path (a bumpy ride for some) but worth the detour. They are an oasis in the middle of nowhere. The water is cool and crystal clear, and we were lucky that it wasn’t very busy while we were there. It was the perfect way to relax after our safari. We hope to come back some day!

Kikuletwa Springs
Had a lovely relaxing day after a bumpy ride getting there. Not hot water, but very refreshing. Little fish nibble at your dead skin! Loved it.
Response from the operator: We are very happy to hear from you and we are very thank you for coming with us to hot spring. As the place called hot spring by the name but water is warm and not hot. But very worm especial when the outside temperature is cold, which the local people called it Maji moto in swahili word which means the hot water but not hot as the name states.

Great experience
We went on the hot spring tour and had a very good time. Hillary could answer all our questions and was a very good driver. We also stopped by a beautiful waterfall.

Why this scores 63
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Kikuletwa Hot spring: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Arusha.
How much does Kikuletwa Hot spring cost?
+
Prices start at $130 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Arusha usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Kikuletwa Hot spring take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Arusha is not rushed.
Is Kikuletwa Hot spring worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Arusha, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Kikuletwa Hot spring?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Kikuletwa Hot spring suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 8-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Kikuletwa Hot spring?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Arusha can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Arusha and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Kikuletwa Hot spring start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Arusha within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Arusha?
+
On Outty we rank every Arusha experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Materuni Waterfalls, coffee tour & Kikuletwa Hot Springs, 4 Days Group Camping Safari, 3 Days Serengeti & Ngorongoro Group Camping Safari. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Arusha?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Arusha?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
