About this experience

The Great Wildebeest Safari, which lasts for 8 days, was designed to follow the Great Serengeti Wildebeest migration during the time between December and April when they give birth to calves. We will focus on the Lake Ndutu region, as well as the Southern and Central Serengeti National Park regions, where the majority of the wildebeest are often found. The renowned Ngorongoro Crater will also be visited on this tour. Over 200,000 zebras and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelles live in the Serengeti, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and they follow the wildebeest migration seeking new pasture. Listen to the unique sounds of more than 6 million hooves pounding the Serengeti’s vast grasslands to experience African wildlife as you had imagined it to be.

We love Tanzania with Congema

Congema has the capacity to set up tailor-made circuits/safaris while controlling the budget with perfect organization both in monitoring exchanges and with the team on site. The lodges are a real enchantment with a particular note for Kati Kati in the Serengeti. The sense of welcome of the lodge staff is really an asset for Tanzania, it's just PERFECT. Our guide Samwel largely contributed to the success of this trip by sharing his knowledge and his thoughtfulness. THANKS

Awesome

As soon as I set foot on the return plane, I already miss Tanzania! What a beautiful trip, what a change of scenery! We discovered Zanzibar then mainland Tanzania thanks to Congema. A quick and smooth first contact with Sébastien where we explained our desires to him. Sébastien puts together a tailor-made trip for us. Once you arrive there, there are no false notes: hotel/campsite, transfer, guide, cook… We did three safaris alongside Osman (hello baby hippo), our guide. He was just great! He adapted to our level of English (very low level ^^) so that we could understand his explanations. Osman is always in a good mood and his smile is contagious. We spent three great days with him and we now know “the song of Africa” almost by heart. We can't talk about safaris without talking about Clemence our chef. His dishes are simply exquisite! So if we summarize our stay: we were able to enjoy Zanzibar in a simply sublime hotel, go on safaris and see animals alongside a top guide and have a great time! All this without missing a single plane (internal or return flight) thanks to Congema’s top-notch coordination. I can therefore only recommend this agency for your next trip to Tanzania! Thank you so much ! Marine (Baby Elephant)

Review on TripAdvisor: Congema Tours - Tanzania

We have just returned from an absolutely magical trip organized by Congema to Tanzania, and I feel the compelling need to share our experience. From the very beginning, Sébastien was our cornerstone. He worked tirelessly to put together a tailor-made trip for us, adapted to our needs and our budget. His availability, sympathy and professionalism are unparalleled. Every step, every detail has been thought out with care and precision, making our stay an unforgettable experience. Climbing Kilimanjaro was a highlight of our trip. Thanks to Martin's team, we were able to climb this legendary mountain in complete safety. The guides, porters and all the members of this fabulous team not only allowed us to reach the summit, but they also taught us a lot about their culture, the mountain and the nature that surrounded us. The equipment provided, such as sleeping bags and tents, was top quality. More than a simple adventure, this climb was a human experience, woven of strong bonds and lasting friendships with this exceptional group of Tanzanians. After Kilimanjaro, the safari was a total immersion in the wild nature of Tanzania. Ousmane, our driver, was exceptional. Thanks to his keen eye, we were able to observe a multitude of animals in their natural habitat. Tanzania offers an incredible natural spectacle and Ousmane knew how to perfectly manage the pace to allow us to make the most of it. Finally, Zanzibar was the icing on the cake. The hotels selected by Congema were sublime, combining comfort and local charm. In conclusion, if you want to discover Tanzania, its breathtaking landscapes, its welcoming and warm people, I cannot recommend Congema enough. Safety, professionalism, humanity... everything was there. A huge thank you to Sébastien for his patience and perseverance, to Martin and his team for this adventure engraved forever in our hearts, and to Ousmane for introducing us to wild Tanzania. Choose Congema for an authentic and unforgettable trip to Tanzania. You will not regret it ! -- amine

8 Days Follow the Wildebeest Migration River Crossing Safari: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Arusha.

How much does 8 Days Follow the Wildebeest Migration River Crossing Safari cost?

+

Prices start at $3452 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Arusha usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 8 Days Follow the Wildebeest Migration River Crossing Safari take?

+

Plan for about 192 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Arusha is not rushed.

Is 8 Days Follow the Wildebeest Migration River Crossing Safari worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Arusha, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 8 Days Follow the Wildebeest Migration River Crossing Safari?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 8 Days Follow the Wildebeest Migration River Crossing Safari suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 192-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 8 Days Follow the Wildebeest Migration River Crossing Safari?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Arusha can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Arusha and add a light layer if any part of the 192-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 8 Days Follow the Wildebeest Migration River Crossing Safari start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Arusha within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Arusha?

+

On Outty we rank every Arusha experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Materuni Waterfalls, coffee tour & Kikuletwa Hot Springs, 4 Days Group Camping Safari, 3 Days Serengeti & Ngorongoro Group Camping Safari. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Arusha?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Arusha?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
