An Unforgettable Family Safari with Lion King Adventures

We are a family of three, two adults and an 8-year-old child, and travelled to Tanzania to celebrate our wedding anniversary with a safari adventure. We booked our safari with Lion King Adventures around 12 months in advance, and from the very beginning they were exceptional. We contacted them with an outline of the type of safari experience we wanted, and Rose became our booking consultant. After our initial email exchange, we had a WhatsApp call with Rose, who took the time to get to know us and understand exactly what we were looking for. By the end of the call, she had designed an itinerary that perfectly matched our plans. Even though we booked well in advance, Lion King maintained regular communication throughout the year. It was reassuring to know that everything was being organised and taken care of. They also assisted with other travel arrangements in Tanzania outside of the safari itself, including our flights to and from Zanzibar. All accommodation throughout the safari was organised by Lion King. We stayed in hotels on the first and last nights of our trip, and in safari lodges while visiting the Serengeti and Ngorongoro regions. Every property exceeded our expectations, and they ensured that all rooms were configured to comfortably accommodate our daughter with an extra bed. Breakfast and dinner were provided at the hotel or lodge, while lunch was enjoyed at picnic areas within the parks, with meals prepared by the accommodation where we had stayed the previous night. The food was consistently delicious throughout the trip. Our guide, Shedrack, was absolutely outstanding. Our itinerary included Tarangire National Park, Central and Northern Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara National Park. Shedrack's knowledge of each park was incredible. He ensured we explored areas that many visitors miss, and in the Serengeti he took different routes each day to maximise the variety of wildlife we could see. As a family of keen photographers, we particularly appreciated his ability to position the vehicle for the best viewing and photography opportunities while always respecting the animals and being considerate of other guides and their guests. The game drives were also very well planned. Because we visited multiple parks, there was often one to two hours of driving at the beginning or end of the day. However, these journeys were enjoyable in their own right, as we were usually travelling through the parks and Shedrack would often stop whenever there was interesting wildlife to observe. Overall, our experience with Lion King Adventures and Shedrack exceeded our expectations. During this time of year, there are many vehicles in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, so it was reassuring to be with a guide who always prioritised safety, respected the wildlife, and consistently went above and beyond to give us the best possible safari experience. I would highly recommend Lion King Adventures to anyone planning a safari in Tanzania, especially families looking for a personalised, well-organised and memorable experience.

Response from the operator: It was such a pleasure to help plan your family’s safari, and we’re so pleased to hear that your anniversary trip to Tanzania was everything you had hoped for. It’s wonderful to know that the planning process, from your first conversation with Rose through to the arrangements for your safari and Zanzibar, gave you confidence that everything was taken care of. We know how much goes into planning a family trip from so far in advance, so keeping in touch along the way is something we really value. We’re especially happy to hear your kind words about Shedrack. His knowledge of the parks, patience and ability to find those special wildlife and photography opportunities are a real strength, and it sounds as though he was a great match for your family. Thank you for choosing Lion King Adventures to be part of such a special celebration, and for taking the time to share such a detailed review. We hope you’ll have many more adventures together as a family. Warmest wishes, The Lion King Team

Serengeti Safari

Had a great time, and saw a lot of animals, including lions, cheetahs, and a leopard. Our guide Fredric was fantastic, very friendly and very knowledgeable.

Once-in-a-Lifetime Safari — Frederick Made It Unforgettable

This safari exceeded every expectation. From the sweeping plains of the Serengeti to the ancient baobab forests of Tarangire, every day felt like living inside a nature documentary. Frederick is simply the best guide I’ve ever had. His knowledge of animal behavior and timing is extraordinary — lions, leopard in a tree, a cheetah family, elephant herds, the wildebeest migration crossing right in front of us. We saw everything. But beyond his expertise, Frederick is warm, funny, and genuinely passionate. His enthusiasm made every moment feel special. The camps were magical, the star-filled skies unreal, and the hot air balloon over the Serengeti at sunrise was something I’ll never forget. If you’re thinking about an African safari — stop thinking and book it. And request Frederick. You won’t regret a single second

7-Day Private Tanzania Safari with Sunset Walking on the Crater Rim and Maasai: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Arusha.

How much does 7-Day Private Tanzania Safari with Sunset Walking on the Crater Rim and Maasai cost?

+

Prices start at $3084 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Arusha usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 7-Day Private Tanzania Safari with Sunset Walking on the Crater Rim and Maasai take?

+

Plan for about 168 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Arusha is not rushed.

Is 7-Day Private Tanzania Safari with Sunset Walking on the Crater Rim and Maasai worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 54 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Arusha, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 7-Day Private Tanzania Safari with Sunset Walking on the Crater Rim and Maasai?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is 7-Day Private Tanzania Safari with Sunset Walking on the Crater Rim and Maasai suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 18. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 168-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book 7-Day Private Tanzania Safari with Sunset Walking on the Crater Rim and Maasai?

+

Around 19 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Arusha can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Arusha and add a light layer if any part of the 168-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 7-Day Private Tanzania Safari with Sunset Walking on the Crater Rim and Maasai start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Arusha within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Arusha?

+

On Outty we rank every Arusha experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Materuni Waterfalls, coffee tour & Kikuletwa Hot Springs, 4 Days Group Camping Safari, 3 Days Serengeti & Ngorongoro Group Camping Safari. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Arusha?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Arusha?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
