About this experience
For those who only have six days to climb Kilimanjaro, the Machame route is the best choice because of its acclimatization profile. Compared to other six day routes, the Machame route exposes the climber to higher elevations quicker (day three) which kickstarts the body’s adaptation to altitude. However, this route requires that a person be in good shape to be able to tackle the challenging elevation gains and losses. The six day Machame variation is a difficult route. In particular, day four combined with day five makes for a very hard schedule. Day four is a full day of hiking from Barranco to Barafu. Then after dinner and a partial night’s sleep, the very long and strenuous summit day begins around midnight. The 6 day Machame route requires 19-24 hours of demanding walking, at extremely high elevation, with only 4-6 hours of sleep.

Hiking Kilimanjaro
This was probably my favorite vacation ever! The guides, porters, and food were all excellent. The hike was tough, but extremely rewarding. Moorland Safari and Trekking took care of all the details and all I had to worry about was making it to the top. They even supplied me with some gear free of cost that I happened to forget. If you have the time, I would recommend the 7 day to allow for a little more acclimation time, but the 6 day was still very doable. I can't recommend this tour enough. Amazing experience.

An unforgettable trip to Tanzania 🇹🇿
I planned a trip to tanzania for two weeks with my friend Jack. apart from my flights and the first night accommodation I had no tours booked prior, however We did know that We wanted to trek Kilimanjaro and go on a safari. On my first day I contacted several local tour operators but Moorland Safari stood out by a mile. Our contact Nasr was extremely helpful in organising our trip and giving advise. come 14.00 on my first day I had a 7 day Machame trek planned followed by a 3 day safari to Serengeti and ngorongoro. Both tours were exactly what I was hoping for, with all accommodations meals and transportation all sorted - and at a very competitive price. After booking on my first day I was off to Kilimanjaro the following day, it really was amazing how quickly and efficiently the tours were organised!! Nasr kept in touch for the rest of the trip to see how we were doing. Honestly from the bottom of my heart I have Nasr to thank for such a memorable holiday. On the spare day between trekking and safari Nasr put us in contact with one of moorlands safari drivers who gave us a fantastic day out in Arusha. He showed us local coffee plantation, waterfalls and a local restaurant before dropping us off at our accommodation before safari. Thank you Moorland Safari’s and Nasr for everything!! I also want to give a special mention to our trekking team for Kilimanjaro. Our 8 porter and 1 cook was led by our trekking guides John and Ell. John and Ell thank you again for taking us in and making us feel so welcome, we truly have made two good friends and will be staying in touch. We Couldnt have asked for better guides and would 100% recommended them to anyone. To top off what was an already amazing 12 days Myself and Jack enjoyed playing in a local football match organised by Ell and John, was such a nice way to end our trip!

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Arusha?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Arusha?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
