An Exceptional Safari Guide — Edward Made Our Tanzania Journey Unforgettable

Edward was, without question, one of the greatest highlights of our safari in Tanzania. Everyone in our group agreed that his service was impeccable, his knowledge was outstanding, and his professionalism went far beyond what we expected from a safari guide. We would recommend him without hesitation. What impressed us most was how seriously Edward respected what his guests genuinely wanted to see. He never simply followed the standard route or settled for the most obvious sightings. His knowledge of the national parks was truly exceptional, allowing him to locate even extremely rare wildlife scenes with remarkable accuracy. By the later part of our trip, experiences that many visitors considered once-in-a-lifetime sightings—such as the famous wildebeest river crossing—had almost become familiar to us, simply because Edward had already managed to show us so many of them. His understanding of animal behaviour, movement patterns, and the surrounding environment was equally extraordinary. He consistently anticipated where the animals were heading, found the best possible viewing and photography positions, and often got us there before anyone else. At the same time, he was always careful not to disturb the animals, allowing them to behave naturally and, on several occasions, come remarkably close to our vehicle. One of the most unforgettable moments of our entire journey was witnessing a lioness hunt. After the hunt, Edward accurately predicted the route she would take back and positioned us perfectly ahead of time. Thanks to his judgement, we were the first vehicle to arrive, and the long telephoto photography equipment I had carried all the way to Tanzania finally had its perfect moment: we captured the lioness walking directly towards us with her prey in her mouth. It was a scene we will remember for the rest of our lives. Beyond his expertise, Edward is also an exceptionally kind and thoughtful person. During our trip, we saw him stop at least three times—with our permission—to help other guides who were experiencing difficulties on the road. At the end of every safari day, he carefully checked the vehicle for anything we might have left behind and made sure that our equipment, drinks, and other needs were always taken care of. For Edward, these thoughtful details were not occasional gestures; they were simply part of his daily routine. Edward combines outstanding wildlife knowledge, exceptional judgement, genuine kindness, and an extraordinary level of care for his guests. He did not simply guide us through Tanzania—he created some of the most unforgettable experiences of our lives. If you are fortunate enough to have Edward as your safari guide, you are in the very best hands. He deserves our highest possible recommendation.

ALL IN ALL, AN EXCELLENT SAFARI THAT EXCEEDED ALL OUR EXPECTATIONs

Our Safari ( 5 days through Tarangire, Ndutu, Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Lake Manyara) was simply WONDERFUL - a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. We saw an incredible number of animals, quickly ticking off the "big five" and "ugly five", and every day offered new highlights. The landscape is breathtakingly beautiful, so diverse, wild and yet peaceful and calming. The entire trip was PERFECTLY ORGANISED from the very first moment. From the initial quote, correspondence to the night-time pick-up at the airport, the choice of accommodation and the farewell on the last evening, we felt we were in the best of hands. ( Thanks to Robert and Silas) A special thank you goes to our guide RAJAB. He was always competent, helpful, friendly, patient attentive and cheerful. He told us a lot about wildlife, nature and culture and no question went unanswered. He made us feel safe and well looked after. We laughed a lot, a certain friendship developed and a few tears were shed when we said goodbye. We wish Rajab all the best from the bottom of our hearts! We had a great time with RO and our guide Edward

We contacted multiple agencies and settled with RO because of the combination of reasonable price and good communication (special shout out to Silas). I'm pleased to say that they lived up to our expectations and went beyond it on multiple occasions to give us a safari experience we treasured much. Our driver and guide Edward is a disciplined guy who always keep the car tidy and a professional who knows what his doing when looking for animals. For gaming drives, having the right guide really makes all the difference and for us Edward is the guy. For multiple times, we were the first to spot lion/cheeta/leopard because of Edward. And when others share locations where animals can be found, he is quick to get there. He also accommodated us for early start of the day to have the best chance of seeing the big cats and drived us for long hours to help us capture as much as possible. It is also a very heart warming surprise that the director Robert prepared us a gift for our honeymoon. So all in all, I would sincerely recommend RO's service to travelers interested in safari. We had a great time.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review! We are truly delighted to hear that your safari experience with R.O. Scavenger exceeded your expectations. It’s especially rewarding to know that our communication and service from the very beginning helped you feel confident in choosing us. A special thank you for your kind mention of Edward. He is indeed a highly dedicated and professional guide, and we are very happy to hear that his attention to detail, discipline, and animal-tracking skills made such a strong impact on your journey. Spotting lions, cheetahs, and leopards early is always an unforgettable highlight, and it’s great that you had those special moments with him. We are also glad he was able to accommodate early starts and long game drives to maximize your wildlife viewing experience. Your appreciation means a lot, and we will make sure Edward receives your wonderful feedback. Thank you as well for recognizing Robert’s honeymoon gift gesture—it was our pleasure to add a small personal touch to your special trip. We sincerely appreciate your recommendation and are very happy that your safari became such a treasured memory. We hope to welcome you again in the future for another adventure in Tanzania.

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 80 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 22 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Arusha, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

How far in advance should I book 6 Days Adventure Towards Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire?

+

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. +

On Outty we rank every Arusha experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Arusha Guided City Tour &Hotel Pickup (History, Culture &Market, Materuni Waterfalls, coffee tour & Kikuletwa Hot Springs, 5 Days Camping Tarangire, Serengeti & Ngorongoro crater & Visiting Maasai. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Arusha?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Arusha?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
