About this experience
Every year, the vast herds of wildebeest embark on a long-distance migration that coincide with the annual rain fall patterns and grass growth. Following the short rainy season in November, the herds of wildebeest arrive to the short-grass plains of the Serengeti around November. The short-grass plains are located in the area east and south of the Seronera, around Ndutu and the northern Ngorongoro Conservation area. Herds of wildebeest and zebra can be seen across these plains as they feed on the nutrient rich grasses. The majority of the wildebeest calve around February. They normally stay in the area till April and then start moving west towards to the Western Corridor of the Serengeti National Park.

An unforgettable safari experience – highly recommended!
An unforgettable safari experience – highly recommended! We had an absolutely amazing experience with Meru Slopes and were exceptionally satisfied with the entire trip from start to finish. Everything went exactly as promised. We were picked up at the airport upon arrival as arranged, and the organization throughout the safari was excellent. The accommodations were fantastic and made the experience even more enjoyable. A special mention absolutely has to go to our guide and driver, Robbie. He was outstanding throughout the entire safari. His knowledge of the animals and the Tanzanian wildlife was incredibly impressive, and he always knew where to go and what to look for. His driving skills were equally remarkable, especially on the challenging roads and terrain. Thanks to Robbie, we were incredibly lucky to see all of the Big Five and many other amazing animals up close. His passion, knowledge and friendly personality truly made the safari unforgettable. We also really enjoyed meeting the Tanzanian people. Everyone we encountered was incredibly friendly, welcoming and warm, which made the whole trip even more special. Overall, this was an unforgettable experience that exceeded our expectations. We would absolutely recommend Meru Slopes to anyone looking for an authentic and well-organized safari in Tanzania. We will definitely be telling our family and friends about this incredible trip and the memories we made. A huge thank you to Meru Slopes and especially to Robbie for an unforgettable safari! 🇹🇿🐘🦁

Amazing Africa
We had an amazing experience in Tanzania. I am going to give a comprehensive review, so if you are considering this trip, you will know what to expect. First the negatives: 1. I am vegan and while they did accommodate me, choices were limited especially for protein. I am used to this and in Africa, most people rely heavily on meat. A positive regarding nutrition is there is very little highly processed food. 2. If you have any type of health or mobility issue, make sure you can get in and out of a tall jeep (Toyota Land Cruiser is most commonly used). 3. The roads are extremely rough in the parks and you can expect an "African massage" everyday as it's an almost constant bumpy ride. There is also a high amount of dust on the roads, so, if you have respiratory issues, keep this in mind. 4. Arusha, where the tour starts, is a small but very crowded and busy city. The people drive as I have never experienced. They weave in and out on narrow roads and there are many motor bikes, pedestrians (including small children who walk on the roads alone) and animals such as goats and cows. It made me very nervous, but our guide was a very good driver. We could have easily skipped the city and gone right to the savannah. Now the good: This company pays close attention to every detail and provides excellent service. Jerome was my advisor from the first contact, and I corresponded with him for over a year, as I planned our trip. He met us in Tanzania at the beginning and end of our tour, and was available during for questions or to address any adjustment I requested. Ombeni was our guide and he was amazing. He made sure we we happy all along the way. There are no guarantees with wildlife viewing because it's dependent on nature, but we saw the Big Five and so many other animals and birds. We also witnessed part of the great migration. I highly recommend this company if a safari is on your bucket list.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review of your Tanzania safari experience. We truly appreciate your honesty it’s incredibly helpful for future travelers, and for us as we continue improving our service. We’re glad you highlighted a few of the challenges, especially regarding vegan meal options, road conditions, and mobility considerations. These are very real aspects of a safari experience, and your insights help set the right expectations. That said, we take your feedback on vegan protein variety seriously and will continue working with our partners to improve menu options for guests with specific dietary needs. We’re also happy to hear that despite the busy nature of Arusha and the adventurous drives within the parks, you felt safe and well taken care of our guides are highly trained to navigate these environments professionally. On the positive side, it means a lot to know that the attention to detail, planning support, and overall service made your journey special. Jerome will be delighted to hear how much you valued his support throughout your planning process, and Ombeni will be especially proud to know he made your safari memorable and comfortable. We’re thrilled that you were able to experience the Big Five and even witness part of the Great Migration those are truly unforgettable moments. Thank you again for your recommendation and for trusting us with your safari experience. We hope to welcome you back to Tanzania again in the future perhaps for another adventure or a relaxing Zanzibar escape

An unforgettable safari experience with Meru Slopes
We had an absolutely amazing 6-day private safari with Meru Slopes and couldn’t be happier with our experience. From the beginning, Leonard Mkwavi was super helpful and flexible in organizing everything. He worked with us to create exactly the itinerary we were looking for and was always available whenever we had questions before the trip. The biggest highlight for us was definitely our driver and guide Yusti. After spending six days together, we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better guide. His knowledge of the wildlife and the Serengeti is incredible, he always seemed to know where to go and never made us feel rushed. But even more importantly, he’s just a really great guy to be around. We always felt safe and comfortable with him and had a lot of fun along the way. By the end of the safari, it honestly felt less like travelling with a guide and more like travelling with a friend. Everything was really well organized, the accommodations were great and the whole trip went super smoothly. Seeing the Serengeti, Great Migration, Ngorongoro and all the incredible wildlife was already a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but the people made it even better. Huge thanks to Leonard, Yusti and the whole Meru Slopes team. We would definitely book with them again and can absolutely recommend them to anyone planning a safari in Tanzania.

beautiful
This was the best trip of my life so far. I flew all the way from Australia, spending nearly two days traveling to reach the Serengeti, and every moment was worth it. Thanks to our amazing guide, Juma, we were lucky enough to see the Big Five! The drives could be long, but the excitement of spotting wildlife made us forget the time. Seeing these magnificent animals in their natural habitat was an unforgettable reminder of the beauty and vitality of life. Thank you, Juma, for making this dream come true!

6 Day Migration Safari (Ngorogoro Crater Ndutu Central Serengeti: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Arusha.
How much does 6 Day Migration Safari (Ngorogoro Crater Ndutu Central Serengeti cost?
+
Prices start at $2487 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Arusha usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 6 Day Migration Safari (Ngorogoro Crater Ndutu Central Serengeti take?
+
Plan for about 144 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Arusha is not rushed.
Is 6 Day Migration Safari (Ngorogoro Crater Ndutu Central Serengeti worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 83 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 80 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Arusha, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 6 Day Migration Safari (Ngorogoro Crater Ndutu Central Serengeti?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 6 Day Migration Safari (Ngorogoro Crater Ndutu Central Serengeti suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 144-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 6 Day Migration Safari (Ngorogoro Crater Ndutu Central Serengeti?
+
Around 28 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Arusha can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Arusha and add a light layer if any part of the 144-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 6 Day Migration Safari (Ngorogoro Crater Ndutu Central Serengeti start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Arusha within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Arusha?
+
On Outty we rank every Arusha experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Materuni Waterfalls, coffee tour & Kikuletwa Hot Springs, 4 Days Group Camping Safari, 3 Days Serengeti & Ngorongoro Group Camping Safari. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Arusha?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Arusha?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
