About this experience
The trek through the Ngorongoro Highlands into Lake Natron is one of the most off-the-beaten-path destinations in Northern Tanzania. The hugely popular parks of Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater are just around the corner, but you will have this area largely to yourselves. Additionally, you have the opportunity to climb Ol Doinyo Lengai, the world's only active carbonatite volcano. The landscape surrounding Lake Natron is unique in the world, as are the relatively untouched Maasai villages in this area.

A perfect Tanzania safari — Duma Explorer delivered on every promise
We just returned from a five-day Northern Circuit safari with Duma Explorer, covering Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti, followed by a fly-out to Zanzibar. We are a family of four from California traveling with two young adult kids, and every single part of this trip went exactly as it should have. If you’re on the fence about which operator to book with, or nervous about what could go wrong on a trip this ambitious — read this. About Stacy Readal, the founder. From our very first email exchange months before the trip, Stacy was patient, transparent, and honest. We asked her a lot of questions — some of them detailed, some of them repetitive — and she answered every one with clarity and without pressure. She helped us understand the trade-offs between different itineraries, was upfront about accommodations and pricing, and proactively suggested a camp swap that saved us money without us even asking. She was responsive throughout planning, sent through licensing documents when we asked, and made us feel like real customers rather than another booking. When last-minute camp changes happened due to peak-season availability, she communicated openly and got everything sorted before we paid. That level of trust matters when you’re wiring thousands of dollars to an operator halfway around the world. About the trip itself. We landed at Kilimanjaro late at night and our driver was there waiting exactly as promised. From that moment forward, everything ran on rails. We were picked up on time every day. Every camp we stayed at — Arusha Villa, Tarangire View Camp, Mysigio Tented Camp, and Elwai Camp in the Serengeti — was beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean, and staffed by some of the kindest, most attentive people we’ve ever encountered. The tented camps in particular felt like a real bush experience — private, quiet, well-run, with excellent food and the kind of thoughtful touches (like being escorted to your tent after dark because of the wildlife) that reminded us we were genuinely in the wilderness. Wildlife beyond expectations. The variety and sheer number of animals we saw was extraordinary — elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, hippos, and so much more, often at incredibly close range. Every day exceeded the last. Our guide, Daniel. Daniel was exceptional. Friendly, patient, generous with his knowledge, and clearly loves what he does. He took great care of us — teaching us as we went, positioning the vehicle for the best sightings and photos, making sure we did things the right way so the trip gave us its very best. Our family got attached to him quickly, and we’ll remember him as much as we remember the animals. For anyone nervous about booking. We understand the anxiety. A safari is expensive, it’s far from home, and once you’ve paid the deposit, you’re trusting people you’ve never met with your family’s experience and safety. Here’s what we can tell you: with Duma Explorer, everything went exactly as it was supposed to. Every logistical detail — pickups, flights, accommodations, meals, transfers, park entries, medical evacuation coverage, the fly-out to Zanzibar — was arranged and executed without a single hitch. Not one thing went wrong. That kind of consistency is rare, and it’s the reason to book with an operator like Duma rather than chasing the cheapest quote. Bottom line. Highly, highly recommend Duma Explorer to any family, couple, or group considering a Tanzania safari. Stacy and her team, Daniel our guide, and everyone we met along the way delivered the trip of a lifetime. If we ever come back — and we hope we do — we’ll book with them again without a second thought. The Clark Family California, USA

Greatest Africa experience
My guide, Daniel, was absolutely amazing. He made the safari so much better from showing us the rare animals to the common animals. I was so grateful to have Daniel as my tour guide. All of the hotels we stayed were amazing and the food was amazing. Each hotel really made us feel like we were in Africa and I love that so much.

The best there is!
Daniel was absolutely the best tour guide we could have asked for. He was incredibly kind, patient, and genuinely cared about making our experience unforgettable. He always made sure we saw every animal we wanted to see, and he never rushed us. He took the extra time to wait while we took pictures, and even if we were a little late to breakfast, he was always understanding and made us feel comfortable. What really stood out was how sincere and passionate he was about what he does. He made every game drive exciting, educational, and so much fun. His knowledge, positivity, and dedication truly made this trip one of the best experiences of my life. Honestly, Daniel is probably the biggest reason I would love to come back to Africa. He made such a huge impact on this trip, and it genuinely would not have been the same without him. This experience was truly life-changing, and I will always be grateful that we had Daniel as our guide. Thank you, Daniel, for making this adventure so special—I couldn’t recommend you more highly.

An Unforgettable Safari Experience
We had an absolutely incredible safari experience from start to finish. Everything was thoughtfully organized and tailored to our needs, making the whole trip seamless and stress-free. A special thank you to Stacy for organizing and customizing the trip so well for us — it truly felt designed around what we wanted, and we really appreciated the care and attention to detail. Our guide, Isack, was an absolute standout and made the experience unforgettable. He was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about his work. We loved learning from him throughout the journey and especially enjoyed hearing his stories from past safaris. He brought every moment and sighting to life in such a memorable way, and we already find ourselves missing him! We’re so grateful for such an amazing experience and would highly recommend this safari company to anyone looking for a truly special adventure.

5-Day Private Adventure Tour to Ngorongoro Conservation Area: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Arusha.
How much does 5-Day Private Adventure Tour to Ngorongoro Conservation Area cost?
+
Prices start at $1850 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Arusha usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 5-Day Private Adventure Tour to Ngorongoro Conservation Area take?
+
Plan for about 120 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Arusha is not rushed.
Is 5-Day Private Adventure Tour to Ngorongoro Conservation Area worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Arusha, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 5-Day Private Adventure Tour to Ngorongoro Conservation Area?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 72 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 5-Day Private Adventure Tour to Ngorongoro Conservation Area suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 8. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 120-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book 5-Day Private Adventure Tour to Ngorongoro Conservation Area?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Arusha can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Arusha and add a light layer if any part of the 120-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 5-Day Private Adventure Tour to Ngorongoro Conservation Area start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Arusha within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Arusha?
+
On Outty we rank every Arusha experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Materuni Waterfalls, coffee tour & Kikuletwa Hot Springs, 4 Days Group Camping Safari, 3 Days Serengeti & Ngorongoro Group Camping Safari. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Arusha?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Arusha?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
