    Extremely disappointed

Extremely disappointed with this company. Over 30 people in our group had booked and paid for a buffet dinner cruise and were really looking forward to seeing the Sydney Vivid lights. This was a special occasion for many of us, and we had been excited about the experience for weeks. Unfortunately, after waiting to board, the company chose to let passengers from a previous cruise disembark while leaving our entire group stranded without any communication, updates, or explanation. We were left standing around wondering what was happening, with no staff providing clear information or assistance. The lack of communication and customer service was completely unacceptable. When people spend their hard-earned money on an event like this, they expect professionalism and respect. Instead, we were left frustrated, disappointed, and feeling completely ignored. What made the situation even more disappointing was that it was not this company that stepped up to help. The teams from Legend Cruises and Aussie Cruises at least showed some compassion and felt sorry for all of us. They went out of their way to accommodate our group and took us out on one of their boats so that we could still experience the Vivid lights. Without their assistance, the night would have been a complete disaster. This company should be issuing full refunds to all affected passengers and seriously consider additional compensation for the inconvenience, wasted time, and disappointment caused. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this company to others. Very poor customer service, terrible communication, and a highly disappointing experience.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback, Shane. We are sorry to hear of your disappointment and appreciate the opportunity to clarify what occurred on the evening in question. This cruise departed from King Street Wharf 9, with the boarding location detailed in booking confirmations and pre-cruise communications sent to guests prior to departure. Our crew were present at the designated boarding location, where passengers were successfully checked in and boarded before the vessel departed as scheduled. During Vivid Sydney, Darling Harbour can be extremely busy, with multiple vessels and operators boarding from different wharves throughout the evening. We understand that this can sometimes cause confusion and are sorry to hear that your evening did not go as planned. We do appreciate the assistance provided by other operators on the night and are pleased that you were still able to experience Vivid Sydney from the water. Kind regards, Vagabond Cruises

    Terrible Experience

Horrible you never recommend. I have always booked through viator. This was a terrible experience! Over crowded, not boat was supposed to be, horrible food. The view we were supposed to see… the lights.. were better viewed from walking the harbor.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations. We appreciate that Vivid Sydney is a special occasion for many guests and are disappointed to learn that you did not enjoy the cruise, food and overall experience. Due to operational circumstances, a substitute vessel was used on this departure. While we strive to provide a comparable experience, we understand that this may not have aligned with your expectations. We value all feedback and will share your comments with our team for review. Kind regards, Vagabond Cruises

    Vivid Sydney is Amazing!

We were somewhat confused as to where exactly we should board, but we figured it out. Maybe send passengers a slot # day of ? We had a spot on the back of the boat outside--great views, but it was cool and windy. There were other areas that appeared open, but a few passengers were "saving" big chunks of space for others. Later, these spots were open as they moved to another area for viewing. Annoying. Maybe assign bookings a location to sit in. The food was great! A lot of selection and very plentiful! The staff was attentive, kind, and helpful! Vivid is such a neat idea! So many buildings are lit up and the vibe is festive.

Vivid Sydney Dinner Cruises: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sydney.

How much does Vivid Sydney Dinner Cruises cost?

    +

Prices start at $45 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sydney usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Vivid Sydney Dinner Cruises take?

    +

Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sydney is not rushed.

Is Vivid Sydney Dinner Cruises worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 38 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.4/5 across 36 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable food & drink in Sydney, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Vivid Sydney Dinner Cruises?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Vivid Sydney Dinner Cruises suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Vivid Sydney Dinner Cruises?

    +

Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sydney can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sydney and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Vivid Sydney Dinner Cruises start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sydney within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Sydney?

    +

On Outty we rank every Sydney experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include WILD Wombat and Kangaroo Day Tour, All Inclusive, Depart Syd: Blue Mountains Best All Inclusive with Local Guide, Blue Mountain Small Group Tour All Inclusive. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Sydney?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Sydney?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
