    About this experience

This is no tour around a wildlife sanctuary. Instead, we head to one of a number of areas where you are likely to see wild kangaroos and possibly some native Australian birdlife. Our friendly knowledgeable guides aka ‘our kangaroo whisperers‘ are the best there are and will convey you to the Blue Mountains or Outer Sydney or further afield where we normally see many kangaroos, playing, eating, sleeping, etc. On some tours, we have seen over 100 kangaroos in the area on one day. These are wild animals in their natural surrounds. Depending on the day and how they are approached, you may see them lying on the ground, grazing, fighting, bounding away, playing, and generally enjoying themselves. Please note that at times, we will upgrade you to the Urban Kangaroos tour at no extra cost at our discretion. At other times, we will take you to see Wallabies (a smaller species of kangaroo).

We had a great time watching wild kangaroos.

We had a great time watching wild kangaroos. Bruce knows a lot about kangaroos and other animals. The joeys were so cute when they popped their heads or legs out of their mums’ pouch.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your kind words. It was a pleasure taking the three of you to see the kangaroos. Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for translating to Korean for your son.

Amazing seeing kangaroos in the wild!

Bruce surpassed our expectations! My Dad and I saw several groups of wild kangaroos during the tour, including some moms with joeys. The group sizes varied from being only the mother and joey with others in groups of 50 or more. Bruce is extremely knowledgeable about kangaroos. He was timely picking us up from our hotel in Sydney. It was wonderful watching kangaroos grazing and hopping around in the wild.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your lovely feedback. Always happy to surpass our customer's expectations.

    Unique experience

Such a unique experience to see the kangaroos in the wild and watching their behaviors. Bruce was so knowledgeable and shared a lot of facts about them and more about travel, in general. Thank you, Bruce, for being so accommodating to our last minute changes.

Response from the operator: Christine, Thank you for your kind words. It was a pleasure to host Ana, Sivi, Samy and yourself (Sorry if the names are not spelt correctly). Very glad that you all enjoyed it. It was also nice to meet your son and daughter in law yesterday on a different tour. Hope you all have a wonderful cruise.

Unforgettable experience with kangaroos in the wild

A major highlight of our time in Sydney! Although there are great zoos in Australia, my husband and I wanted to see animals in their natural habitat. The trip to the national park took about 90 minutes and was perfectly comfortable. Once there, we saw dozens of kangaroos including joeys. We were lucky to have the rare experiences of spotting a wallaby, witnessing a joey jump into its mother’s pouch, and seeing kangaroos mating — but this experience still would have been amazing even without seeing those rare sights! Bruce is super knowledgeable and taught us so much about kangaroos and their behavior. He’s also very friendly and was a pleasure to spend time with. If you’re hoping to see kangaroos outside of a zoo, definitely book this experience!

Response from the operator: Samantha, Thank you very much. It was a pleasure to host yourself and Jacob. We were very lucky to see the kangaroos mating and the joey jumping into its mother's pouch. Thank you for providing me a copy of the video for this. I may add it to our facebook page when I get a chance. It was also nice to see the wallaby at this location which is indeed a rarity.

    Kangaroo Safari

Short story: a better than anticipated, amazing life experience. Bruce is a knowledgeable, delightful tour guide just the perfect amount of friendly and accommodating, but clearly explained the boundaries and protocols for being around the wildlife. With a less skilled tour guide, the lengthy drive to and from downtown Sydney would have been possibly painful. Bruce has amazing stories and fantastic knowledge to prep us for what we were about to see as well as keeping us entertained on the ride back, when as out of country tourists, we were very tired. During the actual kangaroo sightings, he was patient and quietly explaining and pointing out details that we would definitely have overlooked. In summary, you are fortunate to have such a delightful customer facing employee in Bruce. We will be telling any and all of our friends who are heading this way to utilise you as a tour agency. Hopefully, we will be able to return, and will seek out your services and Bruce specifically.

Response from the operator: Joyce, Thank you for your very kind words. It was a pleasure to host yourself and Bob. We look forward to hosting you again on one of our other tours should you return to Sydney.

Walking with Wild Kangaroos Private Half-Day Trip from Sydney: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sydney.

How much does Walking with Wild Kangaroos Private Half-Day Trip from Sydney cost?

    +

Prices start at $355 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sydney usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Walking with Wild Kangaroos Private Half-Day Trip from Sydney take?

    +

Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sydney is not rushed.

Is Walking with Wild Kangaroos Private Half-Day Trip from Sydney worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 50 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Sydney, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Walking with Wild Kangaroos Private Half-Day Trip from Sydney?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Walking with Wild Kangaroos Private Half-Day Trip from Sydney suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Walking with Wild Kangaroos Private Half-Day Trip from Sydney?

    +

Around 18 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sydney can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sydney and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Walking with Wild Kangaroos Private Half-Day Trip from Sydney start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sydney within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Sydney?

    +

On Outty we rank every Sydney experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include WILD Wombat and Kangaroo Day Tour, All Inclusive, Depart Syd: Blue Mountains Best All Inclusive with Local Guide, Blue Mountain Small Group Tour All Inclusive. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Sydney?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Sydney?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
