Best experience!

Tulum Private Boat Tour & Turtle Snorkelling Experience - We booked this to celebrate my birthday, we had been looking for something that wasn't a big tour group and more intimate and found the perfect experience. Salvador picked us up from our hotel at 8am and we went to the Tulum ruins, he was great on the journey there telling us lots about Mexico and Playa del Carmen itself and being able to answer various questions we threw at him. On arrival in Tulum we went to see the Mayan ruins and again Salvador was a great guide, explaining different parts of the ruins and taking complimentary photos throughout the tour, again he was great with any questions we had in regards to the tour and the ruins. Once we left the tour we headed down to the beach to go snorkelling, on our way to the snorkelling the boat headed along the cost to show us some ruins that were only visible from the sea. We then headed to the barrier reef, I'm normally not a fan of open water but this was perfect, the water was so clear and not too deep either, it also felt very safe with both Salvador and the guys from boat. We got to see so many stingrays which were a bonus as we were not expecting that and got close to all kinds of fish and especially the turtles. Salvador took some images and videos on his go pro which he has kindly shared with us. We finally went for some tacos at El Capitan and I can easily say these were the best tacos we've had and so filling. All in all this was the best Birthday I could have hoped for and I highly recommend booking with Best Maya Tours, we will be booking with them again when we're back in Mexico!

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience with the Tulum Private Boat Tour and Turtle Snorkeling Experience! We're glad to hear that Salvador was a great guide and provided interesting information about Mexico and Playa del Carmen. It's great that you enjoyed the Mayan ruins and had a safe and enjoyable snorkeling experience with clear water and a variety of marine life. We appreciate your recommendation and look forward to welcoming you back soon!

Amazing visit to Tulum!

This private guided tour was an unforgettable experience, offering a perfect combination of adventure, culture, and culinary delights. Our guide, Salvador, was patient and knowledgeable, making sure we were comfortable and pointing out interesting sights along the way. We began our tour with an amazing snorkeling experience, encountering a variety of marine life, including turtles and stingrays. After our snorkeling adventure, we headed to the ruins of Tulum, where Salvador shared fascinating insights about the ancient Mayan civilization. To cap off our tour, we enjoyed a delicious taco lunch at El Capitan, where we were able to relax and reflect on the amazing experiences we had throughout the day. We highly recommend this tour!

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your positive experience on the private guided tour. It's great to hear that you had a wonderful time and that Salvador was able to make your tour enjoyable and informative. It sounds like the snorkeling experience was a highlight of the tour, and the ruins of Tulum provided an interesting and educational aspect to the day. It's always a bonus when you can end a tour with a delicious meal, and El Capitan is the perfect spot to do so. Thank you for the recommendation!

Tulum is amazing

This was a tour of Tulum with a snorkeling experience. We had a driver/tour guide pick up just our family of 4 at our hotel. Taco was extremely knowledgeable giving information about the area through the entire half day experience. His knowledge of the logistics at Tulum expedited the process of getting in greatly. He pointed out all the features with a lot of interesting information and things we wouldn’t have noticed on our own. He used my phone to take some great photos for our family. The water was too rough for ocean snorkeling so he took us to a Cenote instead where we saw fish, cave divers and a little crocodile. Lunch was a hearty Mexican meal in a local Tulum restaurant, hibiscus iced tea, guacamole, HOT salsa, Ceviche, tacos etc. It’s order from a menu so something for everyone. Overall a great half day!

Tulum Private Boat Tour & Turtle Snorkeling Experience: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Playa del Carmen.

How much does Tulum Private Boat Tour & Turtle Snorkeling Experience cost?

+

Prices start at $150 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Playa del Carmen usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Tulum Private Boat Tour & Turtle Snorkeling Experience take?

+

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Playa del Carmen is not rushed.

Is Tulum Private Boat Tour & Turtle Snorkeling Experience worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 17 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Playa del Carmen, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Tulum Private Boat Tour & Turtle Snorkeling Experience?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Tulum Private Boat Tour & Turtle Snorkeling Experience suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Tulum Private Boat Tour & Turtle Snorkeling Experience?

+

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Playa del Carmen can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Playa del Carmen and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Tulum Private Boat Tour & Turtle Snorkeling Experience start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Playa del Carmen within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Playa del Carmen?

+

On Outty we rank every Playa del Carmen experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include VIP Chichen Itza Private Tour, VIP Tulum Private Tour, Chichen Itza Private Tour VIP. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Playa del Carmen?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Playa del Carmen?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
