Truly amazing all around mount Sibayak and Berastagi

What’s an amazing day Ardilla my guide was so wonderful and so knowledgable and also very helpful with my slow walking and many breaks as weascended the mountain. It was a tough hike but when you get to the top, it’s absolutely amazing and one of life‘s great memories with 3° views idea was wonderful with taking pictures and a little snack snacks and also on my trip we went to the Hot Springs and we went to a fruit and I’m exhausted, but it was a truly wonderful day and I would highly recommend our dealer and barista adventures as great operators and a great way to go

    My guide, Jamil, was great!!

Jamil was a wonderful guide! He tailored the experience very well to my abilities and offered all sorts of guidance, tips, background information, and options during the hike up the volcano and throughout the rest of the activities. I would highly recommend Jamil as a guide, and also recommend seeking him out directly if possible for experiences even outside of the sibayak volcano, like jungle treks and such

Fantastic value guided trek up Sibayak volcano

This for adventurers who want to get off the beaten track. My wife and I are volcano lovers. We were accompanied by Anggie, a local Karo guide with very cool long hair!. Anggie was great, fun, knowledgeable and helpful. Definitely go with a guide- do not get separated from him and do not wander off into the thick local jungle. The trek up the Sibayak volcano started at 09:00, we didn’t fancy the 04:00 dawn hike as we wanted to enjoy the climb up in daylight. Weather in May was dry, clear, cool and perfect for the climb. The pick up and drive from our Berastagi hotel took 30 minutes. We took our time so we could examine the flora and fauna on the way up and took about 3 hours to get there. It is a stiff climb, but easily manageable. You need good strong shoes. Mosquitoes were not around. It’s a very unusual volcano. You can go right down inside the crater and examine yellow sulphur stained, steaming vents. They are loud and smell of sulphur. Beautiful and exciting. Wonderful views from the crater rim.

Sunrise Tour or Hiking Mount Sibayak From Berastagi: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Medan.

How much does Sunrise Tour or Hiking Mount Sibayak From Berastagi cost?

    +

Prices start at $46 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Medan usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Sunrise Tour or Hiking Mount Sibayak From Berastagi take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Medan is not rushed.

Is Sunrise Tour or Hiking Mount Sibayak From Berastagi worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 87 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 127 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Medan, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Sunrise Tour or Hiking Mount Sibayak From Berastagi?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Sunrise Tour or Hiking Mount Sibayak From Berastagi suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Sunrise Tour or Hiking Mount Sibayak From Berastagi?

    +

Around 44 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Medan can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Medan and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Sunrise Tour or Hiking Mount Sibayak From Berastagi start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Medan within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Medan?

    +

On Outty we rank every Medan experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 3-Day Ethical Orangutan Jungle Trek | Bukit Lawang, Sumatra, 2 Days and 1 Night Ethical Jungle Trek, Monkey Business 3 days - 2 nights Jungle trekking (including rafting). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Medan?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Medan?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
