About this experience
Perhaps your trip is not complete without a stop at Sintra and Cascais, two unmissable places only half an hour away from Lisbon. The coast harbours many secrets – come and discover them along the coastal avenue connecting the Estoril bay to Cascais. Luxury hotels, a Casino and Renaissance fortresses will feed your eyes. Meet Cascais, a village of fishermen that became the refuge of aristocrats and artists. We then head towards the coast of wild beaches and cliffs until we arrive at the westernmost point of Europe, Cabo da Roca. Here the landscape becomes a blend of sea and mountain – and through the mountain we go and meet the historical centre of Sintra, part of Unesco’s Cultural Heritage. What is unique about it is the way the heritage was built in harmony with the natural landscape. We will stop at Quinta da Regaleira, the unusual Pena Palace and the magnificent Mozarabic National Palace with its 10 centuries of history. The food of the region will be tasted at “Refúgio da Roca”.

Exceeded our expectations!
Nuno was our guide for the day and it was an excellent experience. His knowledge and detailed explanations of all the sites were incredible! He did something that I had never seen in a tour before. He stopped at a gas station and pulled out a physical map to show us all where we were going for the day. It's a little detail but it meant so much for us to visualize the entire tour in advance. He was very generous with his time and made sure we had a complete, unrushed experience at various tour stops. I learned so much about Lisbon, Sintra, Cabo da Roca, Cascais and the surrounding areas and he provided us with a lot of helpful guidance on what to see after the tour in greater detail. I will definitely use his services again on our next visit.

Amazing day with Gonçalo in Sintra and Cascais
Gonçalo was a great guide for our private family day-long tour in Sintra and Cascais. First, he picked us up right in front of our hotel. (Not easy since the road is typically closed to cars.) His vehicle was a spacious and comfortable minivan that was perfect for our family. (And Gonçalo is an excellent driver!) We drove to the coast where he showed us several beautiful beaches and a told us about the history of the area. He dropped us off for an excellent lunch at an absolutely picturesque setting, with a stunning view of the coastline. The food was excellent. (See the photo of the octopus which was perfectly prepared.) After lunch we went to Sintra, where Gonçalo educated us about the castle’s history and its occupants. It was a GREAT experience and we all agreed that it was a fantastic day with Gonçalo. Highly recommend!

Title: An Unforgettable Private Tour of Sintra, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca and Cascais This was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal. Our guide gave us an unforgettable day exploring Sintra, the magnificent Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca, the beautiful Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, Guincho Beach, and Cascais. What made the experience exceptional was our guide’s ability to combine deep local knowledge with genuine warmth and flexibility. We never felt rushed or like we were simply moving through a standard itinerary. Every stop was thoughtfully planned, the explanations were fascinating and easy to follow, and our guide knew exactly where to take us for the best views and most memorable experiences. Navigating Sintra and the surrounding coastline can be complicated, but our guide handled every detail seamlessly. We were able to relax, enjoy the scenery, and experience far more than we could have managed on our own. From the extraordinary architecture and history of Pena Palace to the dramatic cliffs of Cabo da Roca and the stunning drive along the coast toward Cascais, the entire day was spectacular. Our guide was professional, personable, patient, and clearly passionate about Portugal. By the end of the tour, we felt that we had spent the day with a knowledgeable local friend rather than simply hired a guide. If you are visiting Lisbon and want to experience the very best of Sintra and the Portuguese coast, do not hesitate to book this tour. It exceeded our expectations in every way and deserves an enthusiastic five-star recommendation.

Sintra and Cascais Full Day Private Tour from Lisbon: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.
How much does Sintra and Cascais Full Day Private Tour from Lisbon cost?
+
Prices start at $80 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Sintra and Cascais Full Day Private Tour from Lisbon take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.
Is Sintra and Cascais Full Day Private Tour from Lisbon worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 86 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 161 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Sintra and Cascais Full Day Private Tour from Lisbon?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Sintra and Cascais Full Day Private Tour from Lisbon suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Sintra and Cascais Full Day Private Tour from Lisbon?
+
Around 56 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Sintra and Cascais Full Day Private Tour from Lisbon start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lisbon?
+
On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lisbon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lisbon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
