This was fantastic private tour to Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca and Cascais costal sites. Tour guide was very informative and up to date.

Fantastic Tour and Guide
Joao was fantastic as our driver and guide. We had a wonderful time seeing the palace and other sites. Follow the recommendation to purchase your tickets to the palace in advance and be sure to include the transfer if you do not wish to walk uphill to it. It was a lovely tour and Joao made sure to take care of us and ensure that we had a great time despite our jet lag. It was a success! Highly recommend this tour and Joao as your guide.

Great Tour of Sintra & Cascais
We had a wonderful and most interesting private tour with Americo who had a wealth of knowledge and plenty of interesting facts about not only Sintra and Cascais, but all of Portugal. We were able to take some really great photos along the way and will fondly remember our visit with Americo.

Be Careful Before Booking
If you read the description, you are supposed to see/visit the 4 places. Be careful! We understood that this is a 4 hour tour and really wanted to see Pena Palace and were willing to cut time or not visit the other places (or at least just drive by). We told our guide about it but he kept on telling us to buy tickets to Quinta R. on the way there. Once we were there he just drove by Pena Palace and gave us just a view. We thought we were coming back but he dropped us off at city center and left us there (Palace area) for 1 hour and a half basically doing nothing. After that, he dropped us off at Quinta R for an hour and a half since we already have tickets. We did not get to see Pena Palace at all (even just the facade) and Cascais. The guide kept upselling us to extend our tour so he can take us to his friends restaurant in Cascais. Overall I would not recommend if you are planning to see Pena Palace or expecting to at least see the 4 places listed here. The vehicle was comfortable with 7 people (2 kids) but our driver/guide was really dismissive and did not even follow the schedule.
Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback regarding our tour. Your feedback is extremely important to us, as we are committed to the continuous improvement of our services. We would, however, like to clarify a few points that we believe may add context to your remarks. First and foremost, with regard to visiting four of Sintra’s main attractions, it is understandably challenging to enter and explore each of them fully within the time frame of a four-hour tour. It is also important to consider that Sintra receives thousands of visitors daily and is therefore subject to certain unpredictable situations, such as traffic delays or queues at ticket offices and entrances to the monuments. For this reason, during our initial briefing at the start of the tour, we always seek to understand each guest’s expectations, and we inform them of the optional possibility to extend the tour’s duration, should they wish to explore more at a slower pace. Each visitor is unique, and our mission is to adapt to your expectations as best we can. Regarding the Pena Palace in particular, we would like to note that, due to a severe storm in the days prior to your visit, significant damage occurred, leading the management company of the palace to temporarily close both the monument and the surrounding park for safety reasons. We deeply regret this inconvenience, but unfortunately, such decisions are beyond our control. Lastly, we are pleased to read in your comments that, even under the circumstances, our driver was still able to show you the exterior of the palace, encourage a visit to another iconic and highly visited site – the Quinta da Regaleira – and suggest some free time in the beautiful historic center, where the imposing National Palace of Sintra is located. According to the time you mentioned having spent in the historic center, there would have been enough time to visit that palace as well. We truly hope you were still able to enjoy the unique beauty of Sintra, and we would be delighted to welcome you again in the future and ensure the high standards of service we always strive to deliver. Warm regards,

Not exactly what we expected
I guess I misunderstood this package, this was pretty much just a driver that took you places and dropped you off, not a tour guide. If you’re looking for that, this is the package for you. If you want a knowledgeable person to show you around the city and tell you the history do not take this tour. Our driver was very nice, just not the experience we were expecting. We were just dropped off and knew nothing about the area we were visiting us, very disappointed. I feel like you can get the same experience from a cab for less money. A hop on hop off tour would be better as they give you historical facts and it costs a lot less. Again, driver very nice, just not the package we expected.

Why this scores 61
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Sintra and Cascais Half Day Trip from Lisbon in Private Vehicle: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.
How much does Sintra and Cascais Half Day Trip from Lisbon in Private Vehicle cost?
+
Prices start at $342 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Sintra and Cascais Half Day Trip from Lisbon in Private Vehicle take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.
Is Sintra and Cascais Half Day Trip from Lisbon in Private Vehicle worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 43 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Sintra and Cascais Half Day Trip from Lisbon in Private Vehicle?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Sintra and Cascais Half Day Trip from Lisbon in Private Vehicle suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Sintra and Cascais Half Day Trip from Lisbon in Private Vehicle?
+
Around 15 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Sintra and Cascais Half Day Trip from Lisbon in Private Vehicle start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lisbon?
+
On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lisbon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lisbon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
