What you get

    About this experience

Seafood paella is Valencia's gift to the coast—and this hands-on cooking class teaches you the real recipe, not the tourist version. Learn to make authentic seafood paella with its traditional salmorreta sofrito, the way Valencian chefs have perfected it for generations. Fresh seafood. No shortcuts. Just authentic technique from local chefs who grew up making it. Your experience starts at Ruzafa Market, a neighborhood gem where locals shop for fresh ingredients—far from the crowds of Central Market. Then, join our small-group workshop to master the secrets: building the rich salmorreta base, achieving the perfect socarrat (the prized crispy rice crust), using albufera rice from Valencia's own fields, and balancing saffron like a pro. While your paella simmers, enjoy a sangria-making workshop and sample traditional tapas. Then sit down to feast on your creation with local wine, salad, mistela, and homemade dessert.

Don't Miss this Fun & Engaging Activity in the Heart of Valencia

This was an extraordinary activity. My adult daughter and I were traveling in Spain and looking for fun, out of the ordinary activities, and came upon this class. We loved that it didn't take us to the Central Market, but instead took us to a market more popular among locals. We were running late, and our guides were so hospitable and kind about this. The time flew, as they provided us with delicious tapas and Sangria, plus engaging us in the cooking. I am now home and plan to make paella for my family, knowing I can do it from this tour.

    Highly recommend!!

What a brilliant way to spend a morning! A trip to the market where our guides explained the different types of tapas and ingredients for each. Then back to the kitchen (with air con!) for tapas and sangria. We were in groups of 6-7 and cooked paella altogether, everyone participating in chopping and stirring etc. After cooking we got to eat , was really very tasty. The guides were all so much fun and we really did enjoy it. My daughter is coeliac and this was not a problem. EVERYTHING was gluten free except for the cake that was brought out for dessert.

    Cooking clasd

Enjoyable 3 hours with friendly and accommodating cooking teachers. Enjoyed the paella we made. Only improvement i would have liked to see would be to make it more hands on. I wanted to do some cooking and the class prep was mostly done by the instructors. Also would have liked to see the purchase of the products.

    Paella making

Very hands on and explained well. Enjoyed going through the market for the fresh ingredients. Miguel was very clear with his explanations. The paella was delicious as were the tapas and sangria. There was plenty of food. We highly recommend.

Seafood Paella cooking class Sangria workshop & Local Market: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Valencia.

How much does Seafood Paella cooking class Sangria workshop & Local Market cost?

    +

Prices start at $77 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Valencia usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Seafood Paella cooking class Sangria workshop & Local Market take?

    +

Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Valencia is not rushed.

Is Seafood Paella cooking class Sangria workshop & Local Market worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 87 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 385 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Valencia, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Seafood Paella cooking class Sangria workshop & Local Market?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Seafood Paella cooking class Sangria workshop & Local Market suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Seafood Paella cooking class Sangria workshop & Local Market?

    +

Around 135 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Valencia can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Valencia and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Seafood Paella cooking class Sangria workshop & Local Market start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Valencia within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Valencia?

    +

On Outty we rank every Valencia experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Valencia Bike Tour from the City to the Beach, plus Bike Guy App!, Paella Cooking Class, Wine Tasting & Central Market in Valencia, Real Paella Cooking Class – Market Visit & Sangría Workshop. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Valencia?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Valencia?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
