Best experience of the trip

This was the best experience of our entire vacation. Miguel was our guide and he combined humor and education seamlessly. I am older and need a knee replacement, and I completely over worked my knee and both Miguel and our photographer went out of their way to help me over the harder parts as well as making sure a had a ride back to the buffet. I cant wait to ck.e back and do it again!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your heartfelt review! We are truly honored to hear that this was the best experience of your entire vacation. Miguel will be thrilled to know that his sense of humor, knowledge, and genuine care made such a positive impact on your adventure. We’re especially happy to hear that both he and the photographer were able to support you throughout the more challenging parts of the experience and help make your visit comfortable and enjoyable. Creating safe, memorable, and personalized experiences for every guest is incredibly important to us, and your kind words mean a lot to our entire team. We can’t wait to welcome you back for another amazing adventure — hopefully very soon! Thank you again for choosing to explore with us. ✨

Interesting tour inside a cave

Our guide is amazing. It is our first time to visit a cave and it is great to learn more about its formation and life form inside. However the tour is quite short, and there were too many "photo spots" where a professtional photographer would take photos for each family and charge USD35/photo, USD120 for full set. You are not allowed to bring camera/phone/go pro inside the cave. We expect the tour to be at least double the length but it is just too short. Food was really bad, we have no idea how it can be that bad. It just tasted bad. The whole thing feels too commercialised and a bit overpriced. Nevertheless the guide was great, and we enjoyed ourselves.

Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your detailed feedback on Tripadvisor. We truly appreciate your honest comments, as they help us continue improving our experience. We are delighted to hear that you had a great time with your guide and that your first cave visit was both enjoyable and informative. Our team takes great pride in creating meaningful and educational experiences, so your kind words about the guide mean a lot to us. At the same time, we sincerely regret that certain aspects of the tour did not fully meet your expectations. We understand your concerns regarding the duration, the photography process, and the food quality. Your feedback has been shared with our operations team, as we are continuously working to balance comfort, safety regulations, and overall guest satisfaction. Regarding photography, this policy is in place to ensure the preservation and safety of the cave environment, as well as to allow all guests to fully enjoy the experience without distractions. Nevertheless, we understand how this may feel restrictive, and we truly value your perspective. We also appreciate your comments about the food, as this is an area we are actively reviewing to enhance the overall experience we provide. It means a lot to us that, despite these points, you still enjoyed your visit and highlighted the excellent work of your guide. We would love the opportunity to welcome you again and provide you with an even more complete experience. Please feel free to contact us directly for personalized recommendations and special offers on future tours. Warm regards,

Rio Secreto was a blast!!

The tour guides were great, Victor was ours and was awesome and friendly and Juan was our photographer and the pictures came out excellent. We did the snorkeling in Puerto Morelos but it got cancelled due to weather, but we had already traveled to the marina which was 45 minutes travel there and 45 back, plus tips. Rio secreto service made up for it with tequila tasting and lunch at the end!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. We’re truly happy to hear that you enjoyed your time with our team, and we will gladly pass along your kind words to Víctor and Juan—they will be delighted to know they made your visit special. We sincerely appreciate your understanding regarding the snorkeling activity in Puerto Morelos. While weather conditions are beyond our control, we fully recognize the inconvenience caused by the travel time, and we regret any disruption this may have had on your plans. That said, we’re very pleased to know that our team was able to turn the situation around and that you enjoyed the tequila tasting and lunch experience. Creating memorable moments, even in unexpected situations, is something we truly strive for. Your feedback is incredibly valuable, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again soon for a seamless and even more enjoyable adventure. Please feel free to contact us directly for personalized recommendations and exclusive offers on your next visit.

Excellent cave river tour!

Victor was excellent in explaining the formation of the underground cave river system. Our path thru the cave was a combination of walking on dry rock, walking thru ankle high and knee high water, and swimming thru a short section. Victor was VERY helpful with letting us know if there was an upcoming drop off or a rock on our right or left while in water. He led the group slowly to accommodate the different physical levels of the people in our group. It was a magical experience!

Response from the operator: What a wonderful review! We’re so happy Victor could guide you through the caves and make the journey informative and safe for everyone. It really is a unique world underground, and we’re glad you enjoyed every bit of the walk and swim. Thanks for choosing us and for the shout-out to Victor!

Excellent cave trip

Great experience! Really interesting, different activity from all the others in the area. My two teens thoroughly enjoyed themselves and so did I.

How much does Río Secreto Nature Reserve from Playa del Carmen Entrance or Tour cost?

How long does Río Secreto Nature Reserve from Playa del Carmen Entrance or Tour take?

+

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Playa del Carmen is not rushed.

Is Río Secreto Nature Reserve from Playa del Carmen Entrance or Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 78 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 171 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Playa del Carmen, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Río Secreto Nature Reserve from Playa del Carmen Entrance or Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Río Secreto Nature Reserve from Playa del Carmen Entrance or Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 4. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 3-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Río Secreto Nature Reserve from Playa del Carmen Entrance or Tour?

+

Around 60 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Playa del Carmen can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Playa del Carmen and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Río Secreto Nature Reserve from Playa del Carmen Entrance or Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Playa del Carmen within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Playa del Carmen?

+

On Outty we rank every Playa del Carmen experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include VIP Chichen Itza Private Tour, VIP Tulum Private Tour, Chichen Itza Private Tour VIP. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Playa del Carmen?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Playa del Carmen?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
