Great time in La Laguna

My husband and I had a great time! Sal was very nice and accommodating, promptly picking us up at our hotel and driving down to La Laguna. We had a great hike through the ruins, seeing both Spider and Howler monkeys, finishing with a zip line, canoe paddle across a lagoon, and entrance into a semi-private cenote. The day finished with a wonderful and abundant lunch at a small “hotel” and return back to our resort. Note: be sure to wear bug spray as the mosquitoes are prolific!

Alondra tour guide incredible! She made our day a special one, and is now our Mexican friend! Easy to get along with and has lots of knowledge about the areas we visited. Cat local Mayan guide full of knowledge and experience and knew where and how to find both species of monkeys. We see 20 monkeys in the tree tops! Outstanding! Canoe was brilliant, zip lining was fun, cenote was stunning, a challenge to get back up on the ladder, need to be fit! Lunch was at jaguar meditation place, fantastic food, fantastic hosts, fantastic environment!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this incredible and detailed review! Reading about your day truly made us smile. We are overjoyed to hear that Alondra made such a wonderful impression and felt like a friend—that’s exactly the kind of genuine connection we strive for. She will be so happy to know she helped make your day special. It's fantastic that Cat, our local Mayan guide, could use his deep knowledge and experience to lead you to such an amazing wildlife encounter. Spotting 20 monkeys is outstanding indeed! We're thrilled you enjoyed the perfect mix of adventure—the brilliant canoeing, fun zip-lining, and the stunning cenote (thank you for the fitness note for future guests!). And knowing that lunch at the Jaguar meditation place was a highlight with its fantastic food, hosts, and environment is wonderful feedback. Thank you for choosing Best Maya Tours and for sharing your 5-star experience. We hope to see you again for more adventures! Warmly, The Best Maya Tours Team

We had Salvador as our guide for the Monkey Sanctuary Punta Laguna Private Tour. It was a wonderful experience for our first visit to Mexico. Salvador was very knowledgeable about the area and knew lots of interesting facts about the moneys and the sanctuary itself. At the sanctuary we were lucky enough to see the howler monkeys, which are rare, and the spider monkeys! The zip-line across the lagoon and canoeing were a fun addition as well; we had no prior experience for either activity and were able to participate. The cenote was very refreshing. It's easy going down but a workout climbing up the ladder to return. Our lunch was a delicious Mayan inspired chicken dish; honestly, one of the best foods we had during our visit. The chef, Valentine, was very friendly as well. I would recommend this tour to anyone 5/5! :)

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear that Salvador made your first visit to Mexico so memorable with his knowledge and enthusiasm. Spotting the howler and spider monkeys, ziplining, canoeing, and the cenote swim sound like they made for an unforgettable adventure! We’ll also be sure to pass your compliments to Chef Valentin—he takes great pride in sharing authentic Mayan flavors. It was a pleasure hosting you, and we hope to welcome you back for more experiences in the future!

Cinco estrellas for getting to experience monkeys in the wild.

It was so amazing to see Spider Monkeys in protected area just being monkeys. Salvador was a great guide to the Punta Laguna area. He was knowledgeable of history and culture. He had warm and respectful relationships with everyone we met, whether we were entering their land or even their home. He made sure we saw plenty of animals and much to our surprise, he photo documented our trip too. We would have loved to spend more time with the monkeys and see the howler monkeys...but monkeys do what they do and they weren't nearby. We were thankful for the Mayan ceremony so the Underworld of the cenote didn't swallow us up. In truth, the cenote was a bit creepy but very cool. We're so glad that this land is being conserved and cared for to the betterment of the monkeys and the people.

Private Tour Punta Laguna Monkey Sanctuary Zip Line: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Playa del Carmen.

How much does Private Tour Punta Laguna Monkey Sanctuary Zip Line cost?

+

Prices start at $140 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Playa del Carmen usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Tour Punta Laguna Monkey Sanctuary Zip Line take?

+

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Playa del Carmen is not rushed.

Is Private Tour Punta Laguna Monkey Sanctuary Zip Line worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Playa del Carmen, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tour Punta Laguna Monkey Sanctuary Zip Line?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Tour Punta Laguna Monkey Sanctuary Zip Line suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Tour Punta Laguna Monkey Sanctuary Zip Line?

+

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Playa del Carmen can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Playa del Carmen and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Tour Punta Laguna Monkey Sanctuary Zip Line start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Playa del Carmen within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Playa del Carmen?

+

On Outty we rank every Playa del Carmen experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include VIP Chichen Itza Private Tour, VIP Tulum Private Tour, Chichen Itza Private Tour VIP. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Playa del Carmen?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Playa del Carmen?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
