Couldn't be Happier with Our Experience
This was our 2nd private tour with David. He is terrific. He's knowledgeable, flexible, personable and thoughtful. He adapted the tour to our specific wishes and interests. Being knowledgeable isn't just knowing the history, it's also knowing where to park and pick up in busy streets, knowing the best café for pastry and coffee, knowing where to buy the best tiles...We wholeheartedly recommend David and will use his services when we return to Portugal!
Response from the operator: Dear Alina, Thank you so much for your review of our Sintra and Cascais tour. It was a pleasure taking you around once again and showing you the best this country has to offer. Will be looking forward to your return for more adventures. Best Regards, David Monteiro

David was excellent! One of the best tours We have experienced. He was very knowledgeable and was able to explain Portuguese symbolism. He knows his stuff. He learns your preferences and caters the tour accordingly. One of the Beat in Portugal!

The only way to see and understand Portuguese culture
David was en excellent host. He started by asking us to describe the perfect experience. After that short conversation we were off. We focused on trying to understand Portugal and the Portuguese culture. David was a great communicator. He described what we were visiting, why it is important and why he took us there. He was patient and made sure we had sufficient time at each stop. His food recommendations were on point. We had a great meal in a small family restaurant away from the tourist spots. And he brought us to get some incredible Portuguese pastries (before, during, and after lunch). :-) David's vehicle was large and super comfortable! David was a very safe driver. I would strongly encourage visitors to utilize his services. We are sad that we only booked one tour with him because he can take you anywhere in Portugal and still have that local feel. By far this was the best tour guide experience we have had.
Response from the operator: Dear Chris, Thank you so much for your detailed review of our (unfortunately only) tour. The way to know what to provide as an experience is trying to know what people like to do. That is always what I like doing. My tours are never the same. We are all different and like different things so it is important to understand what each person enjoys to be able to deliver the best experience. Did you mention food? Pastries? Of course that is part of the portuguese experience! Glad you enjoyed them. I am glad you got to experience my brand new SUV, which everyone can try if they book the Premium tour. Looking forward to seeing you again soon. Best Regards, David Monteiro

Best Tour Guide I’ve had in Years
David was one of the best tour guides I’ve had in years (not just in Portugal but in all of Europe). He spoke very clearly, was able to get us to the fronts of lines that were otherwise very long/would have taken hours to get through, and had all of the best “secret” spots to visit within Sintra. Even within the public parks and palaces we visited, he knew exactly when/where to go to get the best experience and made our trip many levels better because of it. He did a fantastic job of avoiding the big crowds when possible, knew when/where to stop to give you the best view of the sites and provide historical facts, and giving you an experience that felt personal. Overall, he was a very kind and personable guy, was super passionate/proud of his country, and truly taught me about Portugal in a way that I don’t think I would have gotten anywhere else.
Response from the operator: Dear Connor, Thank you so much for your great review of our Sintra Tour. It is very flattering to know I was one of the best guides you've had in years. Having a Tour Guide with you in places like Sintra is super valuable as you know, because I managed to skip some lines, guide you through some of the very touristy places in a breeze. Knowing the dynamics of the crowds also helps managing our time at each place. You are right, I am a very passionate/proud person in what concerns my country and my job. Feel free to come back with your family to see more of this beautiful country. Best Regards, David Monteiro

Insightful and Phenomenal Sintra Tour Guide
We had an amazing experience on this tour - recommend it to anyone visiting Portugal. The day was planned well, taking us through the town of Sintra, then along the coast to Cascais. We had a great lunch with a view overlooking the Atlantic. David made the experience exceptional. He was incredibly well-informed and shared history and insight throughout the day. You could tell he really knew his stuff, which made everything even more enjoyable.
Response from the operator: Dear Elizabeth, Thank you so much for your review of our Sintra Tour. I had a great time showing you and your family the beautiful places of my hometown. Your friendliness and kindness also made my day exceptional and I thank you for that. It is because of people like you that I have to challenge myself at all times to make sure no question is left unanswered. Looking forward to seeing you again in the future! Best Regards, David Monteiro

Why this scores 74
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Sintra, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca and Cascais Full Day: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.
How much does Private Sintra, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca and Cascais Full Day cost?
+
Prices start at $100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Sintra, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca and Cascais Full Day take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.
Is Private Sintra, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca and Cascais Full Day worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 25 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Sintra, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca and Cascais Full Day?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Sintra, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca and Cascais Full Day suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Sintra, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca and Cascais Full Day?
+
Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Sintra, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca and Cascais Full Day start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lisbon?
+
On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lisbon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lisbon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
