Educational and Scenic Tours

Our full-day tour from Salzburg into the Bavarian Alps with Manfred was outstanding. The combination of breathtaking mountain scenery and fascinating World War II history made this one of the most memorable experiences of our trip. The tour included spectacular views of the Alps, beautiful mountain landscapes, and several significant WWII historical sites.. A highlight was visiting the Documentation Center, where we gained valuable insight into the events before and during World War II, followed by a visit to the area where Hitler spent much of his time planning and directing the war.. Manfred presented the history in a factual, engaging, and easy to understand way, providing important context that made the experience even more meaningful. Manfred was punctual, highly organized, and professional throughout the day. We traveled in a beautiful, new Mercedes-Benz van that was exceptionally comfortable, making the journey through the mountains just as enjoyable as the destinations themselves. He also recommended an excellent restaurant for lunch during the tour and provided outstanding dinner recommendations for afterward, which were some of the best meals we had during our stay. If you’re looking to better understand the history of World War II while experiencing some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the region, I highly recommend this tour. Manfred’s knowledge, professionalism, engaging personality, and attention to detail make him an exceptional guide.

Eagles Nest

What an amazing tour. The views from the Eagles Nest were spectacular. Spend some time in the Documentation Center going through the bunkers. Manfred was an incredible guide. He was very knowledgeable and guided through some extra places. Highly recommend. Eat lunch on the terrace of the Hotel Edelweiss if you can.

An Unforgettable Private Tour

We had an incredible time on the Private Eagle’s Nest and Berchtesgaden tour with Manfred. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organised, informative, and enjoyable. Manfred was professional, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the area and its history, which made the tour even more memorable. Thank you so much for yesterday’s Private Eagle’s Nest and Berchtesgaden tour. Adding the Sound of Music stop-offs was such a great touch and made the experience even more special. It really personalised the day and gave us the chance to see even more of the beautiful Salzburg region. The luxury transport was very comfortable, and we truly appreciated the attention to detail throughout the day. We would highly recommend Manfred to anyone visiting Salzburg and looking for a private, personalised experience.

Private Eagle's Nest and Berchtesgaden Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Salzburg.

How much does Private Eagle's Nest and Berchtesgaden Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $109 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Salzburg usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Eagle's Nest and Berchtesgaden Tour take?

+

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Salzburg is not rushed.

Is Private Eagle's Nest and Berchtesgaden Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 26 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Salzburg, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Eagle's Nest and Berchtesgaden Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Eagle's Nest and Berchtesgaden Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Eagle's Nest and Berchtesgaden Tour?

+

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Salzburg can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Salzburg and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Eagle's Nest and Berchtesgaden Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Salzburg within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Salzburg?

+

On Outty we rank every Salzburg experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Austrian Apple Strudel Cooking Class including Lunch in Salzburg, Salzburg: Palace Concert at the Marble Hall of Mirabell Palace, Salzburg Oldtown: Sightseeing Walking Tour with Licensed Local Guide. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Salzburg?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Salzburg?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
