About this experience

Get hands-on with two of Austria’s most iconic specialties: traditional Apple Strudel and the famous Salzburger Nockerl. You’ll prepare the dishes yourself while being guided step by step by an experienced chef. Our small-group classes are fun, relaxed and interactive, making it easy to enjoy the experience even if you have never cooked before. Stretch the strudel dough until it is paper-thin, create your own fluffy Salzburger Nockerl and discover the little tricks behind these Austrian classics. The cooking school itself adds to the experience: it is located in one of Salzburg’s oldest quarters, where centuries-old houses are built directly into the city mountain. More than just a cooking class, it’s a delicious and entertaining way to experience Salzburg, meet other travelers and take a little piece of Austrian food culture home with you.

Fun activity for the day in Salzburg

We had such an amazing cooking lesson! Makes sure you arrive hungry as you will be eating an apple strudel, nockerl, and goulash. Our teachers explained all steps of the recipe clearly and offered help to ensure we all made something delicious! Everything was clearly labeled so we all ended up eating the exact dish we prepared and did not share with the entire group. Additional drinks were available for purchase and they gave us our leftovers in takeaway containers. I would absolutely recommend this activity and think it was a great value for the money!

Awesome Salzburg Experience

This applestrudel/ nockrl making class was just so great! First off, the location ( kitchen in a cave on side of a mountain) was so unexpected and charming. Our instructors Leonardo and Sophie were so organized and talented! Their clear instructions and fun tips made us feel confident that we could do this! While our strudel was baking we made the nockrl- then all sat together to enjoy a delicious goulash or lentil soup. It was fun to meet new people and to eat our masterpieces ! Such an enjoyable and informative class. Excited to have the recipes to try our hand at this again at home. Don’t hesitate to book this class- it was the highlight of our time in Salzburg!

Austrian Apple Strudel Cooking Class including Lunch in Salzburg: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Salzburg.

How much does Austrian Apple Strudel Cooking Class including Lunch in Salzburg cost?

+

Prices start at $38 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Salzburg usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Austrian Apple Strudel Cooking Class including Lunch in Salzburg take?

+

Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Salzburg is not rushed.

Is Austrian Apple Strudel Cooking Class including Lunch in Salzburg worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 89 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 1,054 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Salzburg, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Austrian Apple Strudel Cooking Class including Lunch in Salzburg?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Austrian Apple Strudel Cooking Class including Lunch in Salzburg suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 1.5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Austrian Apple Strudel Cooking Class including Lunch in Salzburg?

+

Around 369 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Salzburg can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Salzburg and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Austrian Apple Strudel Cooking Class including Lunch in Salzburg start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Salzburg within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Salzburg?

+

On Outty we rank every Salzburg experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Salzburg: Palace Concert at the Marble Hall of Mirabell Palace, The Original Sound of Music Tour in Salzburg, Full-Day Minivan Tour From Salzburg to Hallstatt with 5 Fingers,Lakes&Mountains. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Salzburg?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Salzburg?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
