Great instructor and beyond expectation learning outcome

As a technical diver, I’m really happy to have John teach my girlfriend scuba diving and lead her into this amazing new world. with years of experience I have seen too many poorly trained divers doing stupid things underwater like kicking sand storms or being coral destroyer, but John is teaching the right thing - trim, buoyancy, kicking methods from very beginning, which build up solid fundamental and would be invaluable in her future adventures. John is not only teaching with patience giving students enough time to practice, but also have the right environment - a tiny pool on site, which proves to be super efficient for a beginner’s buoyancy training. later when my girlfriend dives with other guides they’re saying she looks like have at least 60 dives but actually she just got AOW certified 😂

Response from the operator: Hello Yan! Thank you very much for your kind words, a responsible diving is the most important within this beautiful world. To care about the enviroment and share this passion is our mission. We apprecite your trust and hope that you can spread all the knowledge on your future dives. We will be waiting for our next adventure together. Take care, Jon

1000/10 experience for Open Water course in Playa del Carmen!!

1000/10 for BE Diving in Playa del Carmen! I went last week with a few of my friends to complete my Open Water Diving course and couldn't have imagined a better experience. We started our first day by discussing how diving works and the concepts behind scuba diving, and then we spent a good chunk of time in the pool learning about the equipment and getting comfortable underwater. My group was very beginner and our instructor Jon took a lot of time to make sure we felt really comfortable with everything! He was very informative and attentive to each of us and our different experience levels. The second day, we went to Casa Cenote in Tulum for our first two dives and it was BREATHTAKING. Jon and the crew handled everything including travel and lunch which allowed us to focus on the experience and all the skills we learned! The cenote was beautiful and full of fish and we got some great pictures underwater after we practiced our skills. Whenever one of us needed more instruction or reassurance, Jon was very patient and an amazing communicator underwater. The last day, we took the ferry over to Cozumel and did our last two dives in the open ocean along the Mesoamerican reef. I have never seen something so beautiful and couldn't have felt more safe with Jon leading the group! Before each day and dive, Jon clearly communicated what the goal of the dive was to ensure we would focus on the right skills. It was clear throughout the entire course that Jon really wanted to empower us to feel self-sufficient underwater rather than looking to him for everything, so as we continue to dive we have all the knowledge and resources we need to do so safely and successfully. We had a few friends in our group that only did the day diving experience + the BE Diving team worked hard to accommodate all of us and make sure we could all get a dive in together. If you're thinking about doing a day dive or getting your open water certification, there's no better place to get it!!!

Response from the operator: Hey Ally, how are you ? What a great week we had, we loved to have you with us, it was so much fun. I am so happy to read your review, it feels like we are going in the right direction with the diving industry, empower people to feel safe underwater is the most important thing within diving, besides the fun of course. A responsible diving is the most important within this beautiful world. To care about the enviroment and share this passion is our mission. We apprecite your trust and hope that you can spread all the knowledge on your future dives. We will be waiting for our next adventure together. Take care, Jon

Open Water Course Cozumel: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cozumel.

How much does Open Water Course Cozumel cost?

    +

Prices start at $600 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cozumel usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Open Water Course Cozumel take?

    +

Plan for about 72 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cozumel is not rushed.

Is Open Water Course Cozumel worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 76 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 43 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cozumel, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Open Water Course Cozumel?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Open Water Course Cozumel suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 72-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Open Water Course Cozumel?

    +

Around 15 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cozumel can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cozumel and add a light layer if any part of the 72-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Open Water Course Cozumel start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cozumel within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cozumel?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cozumel experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jade Caverns and Mayan Village Cozumel ATV TOUR, Buggy, Beach & Snorkel Blast, ATV 4×4+Cenote+Snorkeling+Beach Club+ Lunch+Sabores de Cozumel. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cozumel?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cozumel?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
