Tjong A Fie's Mansion
Called "a historical jewel in Medan", the 35-room, 2-storey Tjong A Fie Mansion was built in 1895 on an area of 8000 sq. meter. It is a registered historical landmark as well as a cultural heritage building and museum. The Mansion has Chinese, Malay and Art Deco influences in its architecture style. The structure was built observing feng-shui principles. The rooms are on four sides of the structures and surround a big open-air courtyard in the middle, signifying the "Well of Heaven".

City tour Medan - Due to the lack of modernity, only visits to the former times
Medan is a sprawling city of around 2.5 million inhabitants, without an actual center. At least we didn't visit one on this city tour. As mentioned in the description, old religious places of worship are visited. Nevertheless, at the end there was a strange feeling that we had only visited something long ago and that we were still living in that time. There is nothing modern or interesting about it. The guide knew a lot about the old days - routinely - and was quite professional. And yet: we didn't really "warm" to this city.
