Fabulous Tour of the East of Madeira

Great tour, expertly guided by Marco. Small group of just 5 which meant more flexibility and personal attention as we navigated the vagaries of the Madeira weather. Despite (or perhaps because of) the rain and mist the levada walk was beautiful, so atmospheric. The included lunch at Santana was enormous and really tasty. After descending from the higher points we made our way to Ponta de Sao Lorenço which was stunningly beautiful and happily by then in full sunshine. We had all the seasons in one day but still had a fantastic day. Thanks to Marco for all his local knowledge and excellent driving.

    Must do trip

Had a great time . Pick up was right on time and Carlos was an excellent guide. Incredible how he swapped from 1 language to another with ease. Itinerary was full on but lots of stops made it comfortable and the day never seemed to be rushed. Levada walk was lovely and the scenery was amazing throughout the whole trip. Lunch was delicious with a lot of choice offered , unbelievable value and great restaurant.

    Fun Day Trip!

Definitely a great day trip with a really passionate and knowledgeable guide. He gave us enough time at each stop to explore and gave us a lot of interesting information about Madeira along the way. The food at lunch was plentiful and delicious. My only thing I would change is that I would have appreciated the guide to put the child seat in one of the front seats of the mini bus, before other guests were picked up, rather than us having to sit near the back which is harder on kids in general, especially on the very winding roads of Madeira. Adults are typically able to deal with car sickness a lot easier than small children. That being said, it was still a really great day and I would definitely do it again and recommend anyone else to book!

    Exciting

Full day of unbelievable views of the ocean, natural pools you can swim in, waterfalls. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t allow to go on Levada walk or see the Forest, so can’t comment on these. Chose lunch option and it was a 3-course feast, plus wine!

    Avoid Wasting Your Time!

Avoid avoid avoid! Tour was a no show! Shortly after the schedule pick up time of 9am I called the number on my booking voucher (the voucher only issued when a tour is booked and PAID for). They said they had no details of my booking! They said nothing they could do and a full refund would be given. No apology or suggestion of an alternative for that day only another day. Given we only had a long weekend and it was our last full day that was not possible. If you are refunding you have the details!!! The biggest issue was the waste of our time. At this point all other tour operators had departed for full day tours.

Madeira East Island Tour with Levada Walk and Lunch: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Funchal.

How much does Madeira East Island Tour with Levada Walk and Lunch cost?

    +

Prices start at $15 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Funchal usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Madeira East Island Tour with Levada Walk and Lunch take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Funchal is not rushed.

Is Madeira East Island Tour with Levada Walk and Lunch worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 177 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Funchal, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Madeira East Island Tour with Levada Walk and Lunch?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Madeira East Island Tour with Levada Walk and Lunch suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Madeira East Island Tour with Levada Walk and Lunch?

    +

Around 62 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Funchal can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Funchal and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Madeira East Island Tour with Levada Walk and Lunch start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Funchal within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Funchal?

    +

On Outty we rank every Funchal experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jeep Tour Amazing West to Natural Pools -Full-Day, Porto Moniz, Seixal, Fanal Forest, Cliff Skywalk in Open Roof 4X4, West Tour-Fanal Forest & Porto Moniz Natural Pools Small Groups. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Funchal?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Funchal?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
