Bad Ischl
Bad Ischl was the summer residence of the Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth (Sisi). In Kaiservilla the declaration of the war against the Kingdom of Serbia was signed. It was the beginning of WW I. You will get explained about the history while passing the town.

Hallstatt salt mine is something so unique in the world that you should not miss it. 7,000 years of salt mining, is the "Oldest Salt mine in the World". In the Salzberg funicular you are comfortably taken up the mountain to the Upper Hallstatt Valley and to the Skywalk. After a 10 mins walk from the "Top of Hallstatt" a mine train takes you along glistening rock faces into the mountain. By slides (64 m!) you change the levels. Of course, you also can use the stairs, but you should not miss this chance of big fun. Please note that the temperature in the salt mine will be app. 8 to 10° C.

Worth a second visit
Great driver and guide. The salt mines were amazing and the town was so quaint. Loved it. The next time in Austria, I will spend I few days there.

Hallstatt. Great place to visit
We have booked 20 Viator tours in the past 2two years and this is the first time I have rated below 4 Stars. Hallstatt Salt mine tour and the free time in Hallstatt was great. The 3 1/2 hours in the mini van driving from Salzburg to Hallstatt was disappointing. As we were seated in the back seat of the van the commentary from the driver was difficult to hear and/or understand due to the muffled sound from his microphone. We did mention this on our way to Hallstatt And he was not happy we didn’t mention it earlier (He said he didn’t want complaints later) Unfortunately it didn’t improve and as we couldn’t understand a lot we missed a lot. Also his demeanour was abrupt at times. He stated on our way home that we were being dropped off at Mirabell gardens. My understanding from my ticket was that we were being dropped back to our hotel (end point same as pick up point). He said this had been amended and communicated. It was raining and we were all dropped off at the corner of the bridge Again very disappointed with that decision. Highly recommend the tour to Hallstatt Hoping this feedback results in better communication for future tours.

Our driver was wonderfully informative, and personable. It was nice to leave the city to see the neighborhoods in the surrounding countryside .

Wonderful!
I was fortunate to have Fritz as my driver and guide for the day, he was terrific. We had a very nice group of people in the minivan. The drive itself is absolutely beautiful. If you go to the salt mines, you will only have two hours afterwards to see the town of Hallstatt. The salt mines are great fun but I really wish we’d had another hour in the town itself as the wait for lunch was long due to the amount of tourists there I did not get a chance to explore the town much. Fritz recommended a nice restaurant for lunch and it was delicious but it took a long time to get served which distracted from our time in the town. As a recent widow, I was very grateful to be with a group of friendly people who took me under their wing. The memories will be with me for a lifetime.

Great day trip from Salzburg
A very fun day, with our guide Frederick. A true local who very much loves his area. we were picked up right on time, right at our hotel in the city center. This makes the day start super easy. We got a ton of information on our drive down to Haltstatt, even arriving a few minutes early, so we had more time to enjoy the area before visiting the mines. Their mine tour themselves is pretty much what I expected, the town is super fun to explore. Frederick had great recommendations of what to do and see while we were there . If you’re looking to visit Hallstatt and/or the mines highly recommend
