St. Gilgen is also known as Mozart Village! Sport, culture and nature lie so wonderfully side by side there. The picturesque town of St. Gilgen is only 25 kilometers from Salzburg's old town. This idyll is closely linked to the child prodigy Mozart and his family. After all, his grandfather was born here, and Mozart's sister “Nannerl” found her home in St. Gilgen. Selected events and the Mozarthaus still remind us of the Mozart family today.

Amazing Hallstatt Experience – Highly Recommended!
We had an amazing day in Hallstatt! The whole trip was beautiful and honestly exceeded our expectations. The scenery along the way was breathtaking, with incredible views of the mountains and lakes. In Hallstatt, we took the funicular up to the Skywalk and visited the salt mine, which was definitely one of the highlights of the day. Everything was well organized, relaxed, and we had enough time to enjoy the village and take plenty of photos. The entire experience was even better than we expected. Hallstatt is absolutely stunning, and this tour made our visit very easy and enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Salzburg and looking for an unforgettable day trip!

Adam is an A+++ guide!
Adam was INCREDIBLE. He made our day so special. He knows a ton about the area and did everything he could to make our stay super comfortable (dropping us off and picking us up from so many places, sharing a ton of stories and facts about the space, suggestion highlights that we didn’t even know about, bringing water, chargers etc) and overall making our day so much more than what we expected. He’s a lovely person and we were so lucky to have him!!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We truly appreciate your kind words and are very happy to hear that you enjoyed the tour. Your support means a lot to us, and we hope to welcome you again on another trip in the future!

★★★★★An Unforgettable Day from Salzburg to Hallstatt
★★★★★An Unforgettable Day from Salzburg to Hallstatt We had such a wonderful day on this tour. From the moment we left Salzburg, the scenery was beautiful. We drove past amazing lakes, mountains, and small Austrian villages, and there was always something nice to see along the way. Our driver was very friendly, patient, and helpful. We really felt comfortable with him throughout the day. Hallstatt was absolutely beautiful and even better than we expected. Since the salt mine in Hallstatt was not available, our driver took us especially to the salt mine in Hallein instead. We are so happy we went because the experience inside the mine was unforgettable and definitely one of the highlights of our trip. We also visited St. Gilgen and took the cable car. The views from the top were incredible, especially looking down over the lake and mountains. Later, we went to St. Wolfgang and took the boat across Wolfgangsee to St. Gilgen. I would highly recommend the boat ride. Sitting on the boat and enjoying the mountains and lake around us was such a peaceful and beautiful experience. What we really liked was that the day didn't feel rushed. We had enough time to enjoy the places, take photos, and just appreciate the scenery. It was honestly one of our favorite days in Austria. If you are staying in Salzburg and want to see Hallstatt and the beautiful lake region, I would definitely recommend this tour.

Why this scores 61
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Hallstatt Highlights Private Full-Day Tour from Salzburg: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Salzburg.
How much does Hallstatt Highlights Private Full-Day Tour from Salzburg cost?
+
Prices start at $569 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Salzburg usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Hallstatt Highlights Private Full-Day Tour from Salzburg take?
+
Plan for about 7.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Salzburg is not rushed.
Is Hallstatt Highlights Private Full-Day Tour from Salzburg worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Salzburg, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Hallstatt Highlights Private Full-Day Tour from Salzburg?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Hallstatt Highlights Private Full-Day Tour from Salzburg suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Hallstatt Highlights Private Full-Day Tour from Salzburg?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Salzburg can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Salzburg and add a light layer if any part of the 7.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Hallstatt Highlights Private Full-Day Tour from Salzburg start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Salzburg within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Salzburg?
+
On Outty we rank every Salzburg experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Austrian Apple Strudel Cooking Class including Lunch in Salzburg, Salzburg: Palace Concert at the Marble Hall of Mirabell Palace, Salzburg Oldtown: Sightseeing Walking Tour with Licensed Local Guide. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Salzburg?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Salzburg?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
