A Glimpse of Senegal’s Wildlife and Nature
This tour was a good way to experience a different side of Senegal, combining the wildlife of Bandia Reserve with the peaceful scenery of Somone Lagoon in a single day. At Bandia Reserve, we had the opportunity to see giraffes, rhinos, zebras, ostriches, elands and other animals roaming through the landscape. The visit to Somone Lagoon offered a nice contrast, with a relaxing boat ride through the mangroves where we could observe pelicans and other birdlife, as well as local fishing boats. Most of the group were Spaniards, so the tour was conducted in Spanish, which I did not mind as I understand the language. The guide was multilingual and could switch easily between Spanish, English and French when needed. Overall, it was an enjoyable way to get a quick glimpse of Senegal’s wildlife and birdlife, particularly for travellers who want to combine a safari experience and the lagoon within a limited amount of time.

Highly recommend day trip out of Dakar
Great day trip out of Dakar! Guide was very knowledgeable about the country and has experience leading tours all around Senegal. The park is beautiful and well taken care of. The animals all seem very healthy and wild. And lake is also beautiful and a relaxing way to end the tour before lunch. It's very hot, so recommend taking water and sun screen, although there are a few places you could stop to purchase these things.

Very nice day safari at Bandia Reserve
A representative was at the pier with a sign with my name waiting to pick us up. We rode in a very nice van to the wildlife reserve. At the park we rode in an open vehicle and we were able to see many animals such as zebras, monkeys, giraffes, buffalo, rhinos, ostriches, alligators, etc. that roam freely in the very large reserve. The reserve was about an 1 1/2 hour ride from the pier and we spent about 2 hours there. Then we rode about an hour to a lagoon where we we able to ride in a boat and we're delighted to see many waterfowl. We returned to our ship without worry.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your tour with us in Senegal. You are always welcome.

The trip is not worth the money!
I was picked up from the hotel in a car without air conditioning, so I had to sit for an hour and a half there and back, on the highway, with the windows open, in the heat, dust and polluted air. The guide did not give much information about the sights visited, and his English was not very good. For lunch, there was a variety to choose from, but the food was not very good. I say it is not worth the money because the entrance to the reservation is only 19€, and the boat ride in the lagoon cannot be too expensive. I do not recommend it, but it was my only option, traveling alone.
Response from the operator: Sorry for the car that didn't have a good air conditioning. We will fix it next time. You just mentionned the entrance fee and you didn't include the park truck for the Safari and the park ranger. This is very far beyond your quote. Normally a single traveler should be expensive as we offer you private service for just 1 person. For the English level , we are not in an English speaking country. So not all the tour guides speak very good English but most of them have a good feeback with other English speaking tourists.

All as advertised. Bandia...
All as advertised. Bandia is a gated reserve but nice (lots of animals incl. Rhinos). Good lunch in Somone.

Why this scores 68
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Day tour Somone lagoon and Bandia park Safari: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Dakar.
How much does Day tour Somone lagoon and Bandia park Safari cost?
+
Prices start at $244 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Dakar usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Day tour Somone lagoon and Bandia park Safari take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Dakar is not rushed.
Is Day tour Somone lagoon and Bandia park Safari worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 62 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Dakar, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Day tour Somone lagoon and Bandia park Safari?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Day tour Somone lagoon and Bandia park Safari suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Day tour Somone lagoon and Bandia park Safari?
+
Around 22 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Dakar can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Dakar and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Day tour Somone lagoon and Bandia park Safari start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Dakar within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Dakar?
+
On Outty we rank every Dakar experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Explore Dakar and Gorée Island full day, Taxi DSS to DAKAR,SALY,RIU HOTEL,SOMONE ( please check Options), Full-Day DAKAR city / GOREE Island Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Dakar?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Dakar?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
