    Beautiful Day

Our tour guide Mr Omar was amazing. He was an excellent teacher and taught us a lot about Senegalese history. The day started promptly and everyone was professional. The included lunch was great as well. Lovely experience if you’re visiting Dakar.

Full-Day DAKAR city / GOREE Island

Wow, I had a GREAT DAY TOUR to Goree Island and around the sites of Dakar it was Very Very Special!! On the way and at Goree Island I felt like I was a local as Oumar knew everyone along the way and was so well connected to all of them. It felt like I had a close friend on the inside!!! Oumar’s knowledge was deep, he knew so much about the city and the Islands history it was like having a professor of history riding with me the whole time. Oumar is very friendly and kind to everyone he meets especially his guests. If you take this tour you will not be disappointed!!! Thank you Oumar🙏🏻🙏🏻

    Lovely day in Dakar

Very experienced and knowledgeable guide Oumar. Nothing was too much trouble. Seamless journey from ship into Dakar to see the city sights Long enough to see everything then onto the Isle of Goree. Beautiful afternoon with a very hospitable lunch break. Slave house visit well explained and walk around the lovely streets of the island. Ferry both ways was managed by Oumar who seems to know everyone 😄. Back at the ship in good time for our sailing. Would recommend 100% Thanks for making our day so enjoyable.

A "Not to Be Missed" Full Day Tour

Don't be afraid to visit Dakar, it is a wonderful experience! This full day tour provided a city tour and all the fabulous architecture, both new and old; insight into the religious aspects of Dakar, and the historic UNESCO site- Goreé Island. We saw and did it all with Samba safely navigating through what appeared to be the chaotic traffic of a bustling city. Our guide, Babacar, showed his pride in his country and did a fabulous job presenting important facts and personal insights into not only Dakar, but several other aspects of Senegalise life. We shared the ferry ride to Goreé Island with about 100 middle school children on a school field day and their exuberance of what was probably a first time boat ride for many added to the excitement of the short trip. Once we arrived on the Island, we saw 100s more school children learning about the slave history of Senegal. Before we began our tour of the Island we sat down for an authentic Sengales dish with rice, fish, carrots, casaba and tamarind...it was delicious! (Tip: Be sure to ask for some chili peppers if you like it hot.) Since it was a private tour, Samba brought us by a grocery store for a quick stop to pick up some snacks before getting us back to the cruise ship and hour before all-aboard time.

    Amazing Experience!

Communication with Oumar was flawless. He was quick to respond with detailed information. Once in Dakar, Oumar guided us through Dakar and Goree Island with information on history and daily life. Oumar and our driver Samba were pleasant and treated us with care. Every request was given importance. Oumar set up special tours and even tracked down a souvenir I was looking for and picked it up. Thank you!

Full-Day DAKAR city / GOREE Island Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Dakar.

How much does Full-Day DAKAR city / GOREE Island Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $160 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Dakar usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Full-Day DAKAR city / GOREE Island Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Dakar is not rushed.

Is Full-Day DAKAR city / GOREE Island Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 85 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 173 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Dakar, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Full-Day DAKAR city / GOREE Island Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Full-Day DAKAR city / GOREE Island Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Full-Day DAKAR city / GOREE Island Tour?

    +

Around 61 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Dakar can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Dakar and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Full-Day DAKAR city / GOREE Island Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Dakar within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Dakar?

    +

On Outty we rank every Dakar experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Explore Dakar and Gorée Island full day, Taxi DSS to DAKAR,SALY,RIU HOTEL,SOMONE ( please check Options), 7 Days in Senegal Private Tour package. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Dakar?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Dakar?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
