Amazing way to see dakar with an experienced guide
Pape is the best guide ever - very engaging, funny, and made sure we had everything we needed. He also has the charm and connections that allowed us to skip pretty much any line. Definitely book, especially if it’s your first time in Dakar, like it was for us.

A Meaningful Journey Through Gorée and Dakar
This tour offered a fascinating introduction to both Gorée Island and Dakar, bringing together Senegal’s history, culture and contemporary identity. Gorée was undoubtedly a highlight. Beyond the beauty of its colourful colonial streets, Atlantic views and local art, visiting the House of Slaves provided a deeper understanding of the island’s connection to the history of the transatlantic slave trade. The contrast between the island’s beauty and its difficult past made the visit particularly meaningful. Back in Dakar, the tour provided a broader perspective on the capital through its markets, cathedral and city landmarks, culminating at the African Renaissance Monument. It was interesting to move from Gorée’s historical legacy to a symbol of Senegal and Africa looking towards the future. A rewarding day that allowed me to appreciate the beauty of Gorée while gaining a better understanding of Dakar and Senegal, from the complexities of the past to the aspirations of the future.
Response from the operator: Hi Puay What a pleasure to share experiences with you We welcome your friends and colleagues Thank you for your support to write a review Pape

Pape Tata Ndiye made us...
Pape Tata Ndiye made us feel like VIP adventurers from the beginning of the tour. From hotel pick up, crowd management at the ferry terminal, great seating on the ferry, and the tour of Goree itself was masterfully done. We felt as if we had the island to ourselves. His thorough explanation and discussions of the historic events was top tier. While parts of the tour were heavy, ie Door of No Return, we enjoyed everything that was offered. The trip to the Open Market, several other sites and the African Renaissance Monument was made very memorable. We had a small emergency that Pape was responsive to and assited in alleviating. We highly recommend Pape. Neville and Kim.
Response from the operator: Hey Neville and Kim We were really glad to share this experience with you. We always try our best to help you with great memories We welcome your friends Thank you

Why this scores 95
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Explore Dakar and Gorée Island full day: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Dakar.
How much does Explore Dakar and Gorée Island full day cost?
+
Prices start at $155 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Dakar usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Explore Dakar and Gorée Island full day take?
+
Plan for about 8.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Dakar is not rushed.
Is Explore Dakar and Gorée Island full day worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 95 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 273 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Dakar, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.
Can I cancel or reschedule Explore Dakar and Gorée Island full day?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Explore Dakar and Gorée Island full day suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Explore Dakar and Gorée Island full day?
+
Around 96 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Dakar can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Dakar and add a light layer if any part of the 8.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Explore Dakar and Gorée Island full day start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Dakar within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Dakar?
+
On Outty we rank every Dakar experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Taxi DSS to DAKAR,SALY,RIU HOTEL,SOMONE ( please check Options), Full-Day DAKAR city / GOREE Island Tour, 7 Days in Senegal Private Tour package. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Dakar?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Dakar?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
