Marche Kermel
The Kermel Market is a colonial-style building recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site , very beautiful building from 1860 which was destroyed by fire in 1994, and rebuilt identically in 1997. The Kermel Market is still excellently preserved. You can see lots of bright colors inside and outside the building. The market provides beautiful fresh products, typical of Senegal. Market gardeners, grocers, butchers and fishmongers are at the heart of the building, surrounded by decoration vendors, artists and artisans.

The Presidential Palace is immaculate white, large, spacious and attractive with its greenery and peacocks, its red carpet unrolled from the portal to the corridor. Since Senegal’s independence, the Place de la République has been the residence of the Head of State, a historic residence located in the Plateau district of Dakar, the capital of Senegal, and was occupied as such by the Presidents of Senegal. Built in 1902, the Palace was the official residence of the Governor General of French West Africa (AOF).

The Dakar station was built in 1885 and linked the city of Dakar to St Louis, also served Dakar-Niger, which made it possible to reach Bamako (Mali) in 36 hours, twice a week. Tens of thousands of sharpshooters from Sudan, Dahomey or haute Volta (current Burkina Faso )passed through this station to be embarked on the European fronts.(the sharpshooters were a military corps belonging to the colonial troops formed within the French colonial empire in 1857. main elements of the black force or the black army and dissolved in the early 1960s ) the station quickly became the most important railway center in all of West Africa; hub of city activity; transit point for peanuts, arabic gum,coton, cola, postal mail and thousands of travelers. Located Place Dakar-Niger, renamed Place des Tirailleurs on August 23, 2004, it was rehabilitated by Eiffage Senegal.

Comprehensive tour tailored to our interests and time available
We enjoyed our 7-hour tour with Agsil Senegal Travel Tour and our guide Amadou. Our private group consisted of two retired couples. We were met at the cruise port by our guide and driver, offered bottled water, and promptly transfered to the ferry terminal for our trip to Goree Island. Amadou had our tickets and ensured that we had seats on the top deck of the ferry for the best views both ways We had a different private guide on Goree Island who was very informative. He tailored the tour so we could get the highlights in 1.5 hours. Amadou was able to tailor our tour to the amount of time we had available and to our interests. He provided good background at each stop, giving us insight into Senegal history and culture. We would recommend this tour to anyone wanting a private tour which covers the major sights in Dakar.

Terranga and touring from Agsil
We spent a week in Senegal in Feb 2026. We had such a fantastic week exploring parts of this beautiful country and were delighted to have picked Amodou and Agsil Senegal to guide us. Amodou represented the terranga I'd read about - adapting the tour to our needs, planning and arranging transfers for us, dealing with any issues and teaching us about Dakar. We'd engaged Agsil to take us on a bespoke Dakar/Goree tour, transfers from the airport to Dakar, to Saly, a Bandia trip, to Sine Saloum and back to DSS. His driver was wonderful too - adding details in French on our transfers, dealing with my forgetful 14-year-old who left his phone in the car and also on another day brought a hotel key (actual key) from one hotel to another!

My tour guide Amadou was very knowledgeable, accommodating and supportive. For Goree Island my experience was equally as good with 'What'. I felt like family. I had a wonderful experience. I highly recommend for anyone seeking an exceptional experience.

Life changing
Amadou was great! He picked me up from my hotel early so that we can make the Ferry on time. Elijah gave a great tour of Gorée Island. Very personal 1 on 1 attention. Amadou gave me a great history lesson on Dakar and Senegal. At Gorée Island, Elijah walked me through the slave mansion and through the town. He talked about what it was like growing up on the island, and gave a real life history lesson on what our ancestors faced while captive on the island. This tour was life changing. I would give 5 stars, but the site won’t allow me.
