What you'll see and do
Le Monument de la Renaissance Africaine
From your hotel, we begin this circuit of life, starting by exploring: Dakar, the former capital of the West African colonies. We will see the Independence Square, the historic cradle of Dakar, as well as the presidential mansion, the Place des Hommes d'Infanterie du Senegal, the train station, the National Assembly, the Grand Cathedral, the Place de l'Obélisque, the mosque of the divinity before ending with the monument of the African Renaissance. Then we will go to the ferry terminal to take the ferry to the island of Gorée, where we meet, with the history of mankind. The island of Gorée was one of the important places where slaves were shipped to Europe and America. There we visit the slave, where you will see the famous "door of return" and the cells, where the slaves were chained, waiting for the boats to come back and carry them. Then, we will tour the island to discover world heritage: the French church of 1830, the place where the Portuguese built their chapel of 1481, used at the time as a cemetery for Portuguese missionaries, the residence of the French governor , the historical museum, the old French fortifications. In short, all the heritage.
