    Emotional and educational.

Bucket list visit, and boy was it worth it. Very overwhelming but totally educational. The tour was quite intimate but respected the poor souls that were interned there. Moving and an eye opener, everyone should experience Auschwitz to fully understand the atrocities carried out there!!!

Response from the operator: Thank you very much!

    Very well organised tour

Very well organised collection and drop off. Good communication from tour company. We were collected from near our hotel in a minibus and met the coach at a drop off point as the rest of the group saw the salt mines in the morning. We ordered a packed lunch which was substantial and very good. Once we got to Auschwitz there was a short wait and we were given our tickets, you will need your passport or a photo of it at the gate. We were allocated a museum guide and had the same guide for Birkenau. He was excellent as you would expect. Somewhere that everybody should see if you get the chance. We pre booked this tour about 5 weeks before and would advise pre booking as we met people who hadn’t and unfortunately didn’t get to go as it was fully booked. Wear smart casual clothes and comfortable shoes. We were there at the end of October and it was pouring with rain, a rain Mac is a good idea, depending on time of year, especially as Birkenau is all outside.

A long bus ride but worth it

Great experience but makes for a very long day with bus pickups and drop offs. Service was very responsive to questions. Definitely order their lunch pack- you won’t have time to buy any food on site. My schedule might have been unusual, but since I was only doing A-B tour, not the extra long day with salt mine, they ordered me a cab near my hotel (3 blocks outside old town) and I took a 25 minute cab (their expense, again, great communication to meet the cab). I met the tour bus at a rural gas station (the cab driver was kind enough to let me wait in his cab) Unfortunately, I don’t think any of the salt mine passengers knew I was boarding and it was already quite full (mostly of sleeping passengers tired from the early morning tour) and no one was happy about making a stop and getting a seat cleared for me. It was all a little awkward. But the driver was fantastic and really helpful and friendly and our on site tour guide was amazing. It’s definitely worth going - just allow yourself some time to rest (fyi the bus ride can be longer on the way back due to rush hour traffic- I left at 11:30a and didn’t get back until 19:30.

Response from the operator: The rest of passengers were informed in the morning that they will make a stop to pick you up which took around 2 minutes and none of them were not happy about it it's a normal procedure. They started the drive 20 minutes earlier and they left you plenty of of empty seats (it was 23 passengers on the bus that day and we have 33 seats in total). Thank you for leaving a review.

    Very informative

Tour guide was very knowledgeable- interesting- although there wasn't a lot of English language books or magnets left

Response from the operator: Thank you for your review and we will let know museum's book stores that they should fill their inventory :)

Auschwitz Birkenau Guided Tour with Near or Hotel Pickup: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Krakow.

How much does Auschwitz Birkenau Guided Tour with Near or Hotel Pickup cost?

    +

Prices start at $15 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Krakow usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Auschwitz Birkenau Guided Tour with Near or Hotel Pickup take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Krakow is not rushed.

Is Auschwitz Birkenau Guided Tour with Near or Hotel Pickup worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Krakow, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Auschwitz Birkenau Guided Tour with Near or Hotel Pickup?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Auschwitz Birkenau Guided Tour with Near or Hotel Pickup suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Auschwitz Birkenau Guided Tour with Near or Hotel Pickup?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Krakow can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Krakow and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Auschwitz Birkenau Guided Tour with Near or Hotel Pickup start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Krakow within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Krakow?

    +

On Outty we rank every Krakow experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Complete Cracow Bike Tour (small group of maximum 15 people!), Krakow–Zakopane: Cable Car, Chocholow Baths, Cheese & Vodka, Krakow: Zakopane & Hot Springs Tour with Cable Car (Hotel Pickup). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Krakow?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Krakow?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
