Annapurna trek in the Nar Phu valley

I have been with Annapurna Foothill Trek for a 22 days, within an Italian group of 8 people. Our route was an alternative to the classic Annapurna trek. We went along the Nar-Phu valley, we passed the Kang La and then Lake Tilicho before tackling the Thorung La. All in all it has been a fantastic experience, with an outstanding service from Annapurna Foothill Trek. Ngima was our guide and has been always very professional and carefull. They took us from our arrival at the airport until our departure . Finally we visited Kathmandu with a city guide from Annapurna Foothill and even in this case the organization was perfect and the visits to the different locations were fantastic. I would reccomend Annapurna Foothill Trek for everyone would want to visit Nepal for trekking or mountaineering and also if you want to visit Kathmandu only. Thanks Ngima !

The Annapurna Circuit - The most magnificent trip of a lifetime!

Three years ago, on the recommendation of others, we booked to walk the Annapurna Circuit Trek with annapurnafoothills.com. We chose them because of good reviews and very quick and positive repsonses from the company. As bad luck would have it, the whole trip was cancelled due to the Covid epidemic just two weeks before we were due to depart. Three years later we resurrected the trip and once again the positive responses from Ngima at the company gave us confidence that it was going to be a good experience. This wasn't just a good experience, it was an outstanding one. Every small detail of the trek was meticulously planned and this made our time in Nepal the trip of a lifetime. The advantage of using a smaller company like annapurnafoothills.com is the trip is bespoke and fitted our needs and requirements. We are in the older demographic for Himalayan trekking so we needed to ensure we were 'looked after'. We certainly were. We were welcomed at Kathmandu Airport after a long and exhausting flight and whisked to our comfortable hotel. The next day after a preparation meeting and welcome dinner we were ready for the trek. We were assigned a wonderful guide - Dawa Sherpa, an experienced and thoughtful person, along with a lovely young porter, also called Dawa. It was a dream team. Throughout the trek with it's beautiful views; expansive vistas and magnificent Himalayan mountains we were looked after like royalty. The accommodation was carefully chosen, the route was incredible and the intinerary ensured we were properly and safely acclimatised for the climax of the trip - the Thorong La pass, (at 5416 metres, the highest pass in the world). Make no mistake, the Thorong La pass is challenging due to its altitude but having completed its passage we had a huge sense of achievement. The trek is very varied both in scenery and climatic conditions - sub tropical farmland and forests; high altitude snow fields; rocky gorges and winding mountain tracks and paths with vertiginous drops. It is not for the faint hearted but it is a life affirming experience. Added to all this is the loveliness of the Nepalese people! We have no hesitation in recommendimg the trek and, in particular annapurnafoothills.com for organising our trip if a lifetime.

Response from the operator: Dear Jonathan, Namaste and Greetings, Thank you very much for taking your time to write this wonderful review for local agency. Your words means a lot to our local business and is a great motivation to our entire team to work even better. We hope this review will help future guests to plan and book their Nepal trips with Annapurna Foothills Treks & Expedition with full Trust. Best Wishes, Annapurna Foothills Family

Annapurna Circuit Trekking -17 Days: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kathmandu.

How much does Annapurna Circuit Trekking -17 Days cost?

+

Prices start at $1400 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kathmandu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Annapurna Circuit Trekking -17 Days take?

+

Plan for about 408 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kathmandu is not rushed.

Is Annapurna Circuit Trekking -17 Days worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Kathmandu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Annapurna Circuit Trekking -17 Days?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Annapurna Circuit Trekking -17 Days suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 10. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 408-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Annapurna Circuit Trekking -17 Days?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kathmandu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kathmandu and add a light layer if any part of the 408-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Annapurna Circuit Trekking -17 Days start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kathmandu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kathmandu?

+

On Outty we rank every Kathmandu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour | UNESCO World Heritage sites, Manaslu Circuit Trek, Kathmandu Food and Drink Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kathmandu?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kathmandu?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
