An Amazing EBC Journey with Himalayan Social Journey
I recently completed the Everest Base Camp Trek with Himalayan Social Journey, and it was one of the most memorable adventures of my life. The trek itself was breathtaking, but what truly made the experience exceptional was our guide, Santosh Dhakal. From the very beginning, Santosh was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly supportive. He carefully monitored our health and acclimatization, ensured our safety at every stage of the trek, and always went the extra mile to make us comfortable. His deep knowledge of the Everest region, local culture, and mountains added so much value to the journey. What stood out most was his positive attitude and genuine care for every member of the group. Whether it was adjusting the pace, helping with logistics, motivating us on difficult days, or simply sharing stories over tea, Santosh made everyone feel confident and well looked after. His experience and calm nature were especially reassuring at higher altitudes. Himalayan Social Journey did a great job organizing the trek, but Santosh was undoubtedly the highlight of the entire experience. Thanks to his dedication, professionalism, and friendly personality, this trek became far more than just reaching Everest Base Camp—it became an unforgettable journey. I highly recommend Himalayan Social Journey, and if you have the chance, request Santosh as your guide. He is truly one of the best guides you could ask for in the Himalayas.

Great company, tough trek, fantastic guides!
I recently completed the 12-day Everest Base Camp trek with Himalayan Social Journey, and it was an absolute triumph. From the airport pickup in Kathmandu and drop back after the trek the team managed every single detail flawlessly. Our guide, Santosh Dhakal was a true professional. He tailored our trekking pace perfectly, and kept our team's morale high even during the toughest ascents. Our porters were absolute powerhouses, always arriving ahead of us with our gear and greeting us with warm smiles. The tea houses chosen by HSJ were clean and hospitable. HSJ is the BEST!
I cannot recommend Himalayan Social Journey enough! From the moment we registered until the very last day of our trek, everything was seamless and beyond expectations. The communication from the HSJ staff was outstanding — every question was answered quickly, and every detail was handled with care, making the entire experience stress-free. Our guide, Mingmar Sherpa, was absolutely incredible. Growing up in the Himalayas, he knew the mountains intimately and brought us to the best tea houses and hidden gems along the route. His knowledge, calm presence, steady guidance, and constant encouragement made all the difference during the toughest parts of the trek. Touching the rock at Everest Base Camp was one of the most meaningful moments of my life, and I truly would not have made it there without Mingmar beside me every step of the way. Our porters, Gello and Bal, were phenomenal. They handled our bags with such care and somehow always made sure our luggage was waiting for us when we arrived at the teahouse each afternoon. Their hard work, kindness, and reliability were such an important part of the experience, and we were so grateful for them every single day. If you are considering trekking in Nepal, book with Himalayan Social Journey. You will be in the best hands possible.

Why this scores 93
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
12 Days Everest Base Camp Trek: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kathmandu.
How much does 12 Days Everest Base Camp Trek cost?
+
Prices start at $999 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kathmandu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 12 Days Everest Base Camp Trek take?
+
Plan for about 288 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kathmandu is not rushed.
Is 12 Days Everest Base Camp Trek worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 93 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 319 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Kathmandu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.
Can I cancel or reschedule 12 Days Everest Base Camp Trek?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 144 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 12 Days Everest Base Camp Trek suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 12. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 288-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book 12 Days Everest Base Camp Trek?
+
Around 112 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kathmandu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kathmandu and add a light layer if any part of the 288-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 12 Days Everest Base Camp Trek start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kathmandu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kathmandu?
+
On Outty we rank every Kathmandu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour | UNESCO World Heritage sites, Classic Everest Base Camp Trek, Manaslu Circuit Trek. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kathmandu?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kathmandu?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
