What you'll see and do
Windsor Castle
Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world. It has been the family home of British kings and queens for almost 1,000 years and is today one of the official residences of His Majesty The King. Occupying over 10.5 hectares, the Castle offers a varied day out for visitors, including a visit to the magnificent State Apartments and St George's Chapel. The Castle's State Apartments are furnished with some of the finest works from the Royal Collection, reflecting the changing tastes of the Castle's royal occupants, particularly those of Charles II and George IV. Many of the works of art are still in the historic settings for which they were first collected or commissioned by the kings and queens who have lived at Windsor. Visitors can take a self-guided tour of the Castle with a free multimedia tour. From October to March, visitors can also walk through the sumptuous Semi-State Apartments, which served as the private rooms of George IV in the 19th century.

The bus was hot and no...
The bus was hot and no guide was provided. People who were not part of the group were seated in the front seats on the way back to London. Other than an entrance ticket and a drop off / pickup there wasn’t much of a tour.

Experience didn't meet my expectations.
This trip should be advertised as a bus ride to the castle and nothing more. My trip was booked by a friend and I guess I needed to read the fine print as I was expecting to hear at least some history of about the castle and the surrounding area from our tour guide as we drove to the site but instead got absolutely nothing. Once there our guide told us to be back at the bus by 5:00pm. We were then led to entrance of the castle, given a wristband and that was it, we were on our own. There was very little communication from our guide. Of the 5.5 hour trip we spent 2.5 hours on the bus in London traffic. If I had to do it again I'd skip this trip, buy a train ticket instead and see the castle on my own schedule.

The worst Trip we ever took
One of the worst experiences. The tour operator is absolutely unprofessional and lacks the skills to be running such an activity. We missed our evening pick up despite being on time, walking for more than 40 mins with the operator giving us non helpful directions and the tour guide missing in action
Response from the operator: Dear Guest, We are truly sorry to hear about this disappointing experience. We completely understand how frustrating it must have been to be on time for your evening pick-up, only to miss it despite spending so much time trying to reach the meeting point. We sincerely apologise for the unclear and unhelpful directions you received and for the lack of assistance when you needed it most. We also regret that you were unable to locate or receive support from your tour guide. This is certainly not the level of organisation or service we aim to provide, and we take your comments very seriously. We will share your feedback with the relevant team so the circumstances can be reviewed and improvements made. We genuinely regret the inconvenience and frustration caused and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Warm regards, Evanevanstours team

BAD Viator !!!
YOU failed to disclose that St. George's was closed and NOT available to tour. This was only disclosed after we purchased the ticket, and YOU failed to let us reschedule to a day it was available to tour. BAD VIATOR !!!
Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re very sorry for the disappointment caused by St. George’s Chapel being unavailable during your visit. We understand how frustrating it must have been to learn about the closure only after purchasing your ticket, particularly when you had hoped to visit the chapel. We also understand your frustration regarding the inability to reschedule your booking to a date when the chapel was available. We appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention, and your comments regarding the communication of closures and booking flexibility will be shared with the relevant team. We sincerely apologize that this aspect of your experience did not meet your expectations. Kind regards, Evanevanstours team

Why this scores 59
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Windsor Castle Half Day Trip from London: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for London.
How much does Windsor Castle Half Day Trip from London cost?
+
Prices start at $34 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in London usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Windsor Castle Half Day Trip from London take?
+
Plan for about 5.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in London is not rushed.
Is Windsor Castle Half Day Trip from London worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.9/5 across 250 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in London, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Windsor Castle Half Day Trip from London?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Windsor Castle Half Day Trip from London suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Windsor Castle Half Day Trip from London?
+
Around 88 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in London can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in London and add a light layer if any part of the 5.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Windsor Castle Half Day Trip from London start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central London within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in London?
+
London's best attractions split cleanly: the museums are free and need no booking, so the paid market is about views, theatre and getting out of the city for a day. That makes value scoring unusually important here, and the Outty Ranking penalises anything charging premium prices for access you could get for nothing. On Outty we rank every London experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Soho Music & Historic Pubs Tour, London Small Group Tour of Historical Pubs, The Great British Rock and Roll Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit London?
+
May to September for long evenings, December for the Christmas markets. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in London?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
