A great way to get the most out of your Pompei visit
This is the tour to take if you want a truly in-depth look at Pompei (and why wouldn't you?). Our guide, Leonardo, is a professional archaeologist and gave us the backstory to everything we saw. He knew the best spots in this vast, ruined city and took us right to them, pointing out details that we wouldn't have noticed or understood. It was amusing to see other visitors edging towards us to glean Leonardo's wisdom. I highly recommend this experience.

Highly recommend a tour with Italo!
My partner and I took a 4 hour guided tour with Italo. He is superbly knowledgeable about Pompeii and able to put the sights into a historical context. We wanted to stay longer after the tour and he had excellent suggestions for where to guide ourselves to. The private tour is well worth it for the tailored experience and the ability to navigate around bigger groups.

Amazing 4 hour experience with Lelo - A Must Do!
Lelo was amazing! This was simply the best tour we have ever had and we have had many through Italy to date. Lelo’s obviously is a super top tier accomplished archeologist as everyone knew him throughout the park. Lelo’s English was amazing and his ability to keep our interest was quite frankly amazing. This was so worth the cost ten fold!! My 14 year old son and I were on the 4 hour tour with Lelo and it felt like 30 minutes as we were enamored with the stories, facts, and amazing sites.

Our guide Laylo was...
Our guide Laylo was amazing! Very knowledgeable and able to get us to the front of every line! The 4 hours flew by! He was able to get us a table at the Russo family vineyard following the tour which was a perfect end to a great day! Thank you

Great trip and worth paying to not be in a huge group.
4 hours was a good amount of time to see the main sights. Take a bottle of water with you. It is worth looking round the little museum at the end. Our guide, Roberta, was very friendly and knowledgeable with a good sense of humour. I don’t think she was an archaeologist though which is what was advertised.

Why this scores 65
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
VIP Pompeii Tour including Newly Opened Houses With Archaeologist: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Pompeii.
How much does VIP Pompeii Tour including Newly Opened Houses With Archaeologist cost?
+
Prices start at $354 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Pompeii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does VIP Pompeii Tour including Newly Opened Houses With Archaeologist take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Pompeii is not rushed.
Is VIP Pompeii Tour including Newly Opened Houses With Archaeologist worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 37 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Pompeii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule VIP Pompeii Tour including Newly Opened Houses With Archaeologist?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is VIP Pompeii Tour including Newly Opened Houses With Archaeologist suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book VIP Pompeii Tour including Newly Opened Houses With Archaeologist?
+
Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Pompeii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Pompeii and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does VIP Pompeii Tour including Newly Opened Houses With Archaeologist start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Pompeii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Pompeii?
+
On Outty we rank every Pompeii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Premium Minivan Trip from Rome: Pompeii Tour & Lunch in Sorrento, Skip the Line Guided Tour of Pompeii Led by an Archaeologist, Explore Pompeii with an Archaeologist. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Pompeii?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Pompeii?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
