What you'll see and do
Archaeological Park of Pompeii
24 August 79 AD started like any other day... a sudden disaster struck a lively city located near one of the major trading ports of the Roman Empire. As the largest volcano on the Italian peninsula erupted, the entire city was wiped out overnight buried under volcanic ash. The city's name was Pompeii. By the end of 25 august, the landscape around Mount Vesuvius had been changed forever and Pompeii had been completely buried. Within a few years no one could remember where the city had once stood. When its excavation began almost 1700 years later what came to light astonished the world. Under the volcanic ash, the city had been beautifully preserved. A time capsule that revealed centuries later what town life had been like at the time of the Roman Empire. Not only the city buildings were perfectly preserved, volcanic ash also sealed their bodies and their thoughts often scratched into the plaster walls before the sudden tragedy. Looking at the numerous and sometimes hidden details of Pompeii, you will know about its inhabitants, their lives and their wishes that never came true... My walking tours is a travel in the past through which you'll have a vivid picture of roman daily life told with passion and archaeological accuracy. The tour includes the major highlights or if you prefer I can prepare a different tour according to your interests. Whatever you choose, the tour will be an amazing experience for all your family.

Knowledgeable, articulate, and enjoyable guide for Pompeii
We highly recommend Ada for a tour of Pompeii. With 25 years of experience, she is articulate in English, knowledgeable, warm, and offers a well paced tour of the site. With decades of travel experience, and considerable knowledge of archaeology and Roman antiquities, we rarely hire guides, preferring to explore at our own pace. However, Pompeii is so vast, far more than can be covered in a day even with helpful guidebooks, and offers so much to learn, we opted for a private guide for the two of us. Ada came highly recommended by a close friend, who had hired her for a family tour 7 years earlier and kept her contact information. We learned so much about the daily life of Pompeii, and the art and architecture that we would have overlooked on our own. She answered all our questions expertly, providing a helpful overview at the start of our day, and throughout her route. Given the time and expense of traveling to Pompeii, Ada made our visit that much more worthwhile. She also offers tours of Herculaneum, and if we had more time in Sorrento, we would have hired her again for a second adventure together.

5 stars isn't enough for Ada, should be 10!
5* is not enough to truly reflect how awesome Adas tour of Pompeii was! Ada's knowledge of the history of Pompeii was mind-blowing and her passion for her topic a joy to be made part of. She answered every question we had and then added to it! When showing us a fresco, Ada didn't just point them out for us, she then explained exactly what we were seeing, what the paintings represented and more! However, what made her tour a cut above others was how she made Pompei come to life for us! Her descriptions and stories set the scene of Pompei life before, during and after Vesuvius erupted. She painted a picture of a busy, bustling city that one minute was alive and vibrant and the next minute silent and gone. Ada goes above and beyond with the service she offers you. Not only did she extend her tour to be able to fully answer our questions and show us more, Ada suggested other areas of Pompei we could visit whilst we were there and asked us to call her if we wanted anymore information of things to see during our stay. We plan to return and Ada will be our 1st booking as she does a Herculaneum tour too!:D

Why this scores 81
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Visit in Pompeii - Pompeii Private Tour with Ada: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Pompeii.
How much does Visit in Pompeii - Pompeii Private Tour with Ada cost?
+
Prices start at $224 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Pompeii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Visit in Pompeii - Pompeii Private Tour with Ada take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Pompeii is not rushed.
Is Visit in Pompeii - Pompeii Private Tour with Ada worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 81 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 447 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Pompeii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Visit in Pompeii - Pompeii Private Tour with Ada?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Visit in Pompeii - Pompeii Private Tour with Ada suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Visit in Pompeii - Pompeii Private Tour with Ada?
+
Around 156 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Pompeii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Pompeii and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Visit in Pompeii - Pompeii Private Tour with Ada start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Pompeii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Pompeii?
+
On Outty we rank every Pompeii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Skip the Line Guided Tour of Pompeii Led by an Archaeologist, Premium Minivan Trip from Rome: Pompeii Tour & Lunch in Sorrento, Explore Pompeii with an Archaeologist. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Pompeii?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Pompeii?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
